The Class That Saved Coach K
The 1982 Duke Recruiting Class may have saved Coach K. It couldn’t however beat Denny Crum and The Louisville Cardinals in the 1986 NCAA Tournament Championship game.

Just wanted to put this out there before our new conference network begins kissing Coach K’s azz.

Yes Jay Bilas we do have your championship...

They should be kissing Bobby Bowden's ass

If FSU had gone to the Big East instead of the ACC, it would be called the Big East Network....just sayin

RE: The Class That Saved Coach K
It was indeed a sh*tshow last night.

In our short time in The ACC I have quickly learned that the conference will pimp select basketball programs in the conference to the detriment of all conference football programs.

If I’m recruiting a kid to play football at my school and I’m recruiting against an ACC school I use last night as an example of what The ACC thinks of football. On the biggest night the conference has had in decades, the conference chose to showcase basketball and not football.

The ACC could have set the tone and started changing the narrative that the league didn’t care about anything but basketball. Instead our new network doubled down on what everyone already knew.

Or, you can point to the 4 part mini series about Clemson that starts Sunday that the network have advertised throughout the night. If anything, the network promoted how deep this conference is with regard to competing for and winning National championships. Unfortunately for some, this conference isn't a one trick pony. Again, I ask, aside from Clemson's NC (which they are covering with a 4 part mini series), what other football program have positive news that need to be proven? Maybe Syracuse's football resurgence? Stop $%^&*ing about something many thought would never happen. Prime example of "you can't please everyone".

Duke / Coach K, they are such a polarizing figure, I’m not sure if more people turn off the ACCN than actually tune in to watch. The ESPN executives should be aware that he is not a lovable figure that transcends the game like a Coach Bowden.

I enjoyed the show and I'm sure that I'll enjoy the Clemson football documentary as well.

Looks like today's schedule is heavily devoted to football. 3 pm - replay of the Clemson-Alabama NCG; 6 pm - Gymratts: Miami Hurricanes Football; 6:30 pm - Best of ACC Football Kickoff; 7:30 pm - Greatest Ever: 2018 Clemson Tigers; 8 pm - The Huddle: Season Preview; 10 pm - Florida Gators vs. Miami Hurricanes (I'm guessing the 2013 game)

Exactly....
Coach Bowden has done a helluva lot more to get The ACC where it is today than any coach. Got to give Dabo some credit. He’s doing his part to keep it where it is.

The movie last night should have been:
Coach Bowden and the football program that saved The ACC.

That however wouldn’t have followed The ACC script of glorifying Duke and UNC while marginalizing every other program in the conference.

I am hopeful the Clemson series redeems The ACC Network.

There is a Bowden documentary coming in a few weeks. First showing 9/11 in prime time.

The ACC may compete and win national titles in a number of sports but the conference is definitely a “one trick pony” and they ride that pony too.

As for “you can’t please everyone” ....That’s the problem. Instead of spending its first few hours on the air proving the conference was going to be about more than basketball, they spent 28 minutes talking about football and 3 hours and 32 minutes talking about basketball between 7 and 11.

Instead of trying to please everyone and keep casual fans that were tuning in for the network premiere interested The ACC said we don’t care. The ACC proved again last night that The ACC will never change.

Bobby Bowden, lulz.

Padded his record in the 80's to build that program, then took it into the ACC. My favorite part was SEC expansion was actually considered a failure at the time, so I thank him for that. Think about it, they lost out on Texas, Texas A&M, FSU, and Miami and ended up with Arkansas and Sow Carolina.

Take a Xanax bud, it was the first night so of course they're going to talk about the crown jewel of the conference.

If the SEC Network debuted in February, would they really talk about basketball all night? I'm sure Kentucky fans would cry into their Maker's.

Like it or not ACC Football was floundering until FSU joined. How many years did Bobby go undefeated in The ACC before losing a conference game...

The point is everyone loves Bobby. Most people, except Duke and apparently some UNC fans..lol, think Coach K is a dick.

Casual fans with no connection to the conference would have watched a broadcast about Bobby Bowden. Conference leaderships choice forced ACC fans to turn our new network off.

I read somewhere (here? it's all starting to run together...) that ESPN "wants the ACCN to own college basketball". If true, that means this is coming from the Mouse... but it also means that the ACC needs to grow a spine and realize that it's not in the best interests of the conference to put basketball ahead of football.

Do you even know the meaning of one trick pony? Obviously not per your statement above.."the ACC may compete and win national titles in a number of sports but the conference is definitely a "one trick pony" and they ride that pony too". Huh? The ACC won five national championships which included the two revenue generating sports (football and basketball). Dude, just stop.

I came home, turned immediately to the channel and enjoyed every minute of it. I also watched the Duke documentary. I watched the individual introductions of different student athletes from all over the ACC. I watched the advertisement for the "All In" series about Clemson football. I watched the segment about VT wrestling national champ. This morning watched Packer and Durham and they certainly touched on everything. Interviews with all of the national championship coaches.

Someone posted today's line up which most certainly is a heavy football lean. Will watch that also. I am not a conditional ACC fan. It isn't like they haven't covered football. And, let's not pretend like there is a lot of positive news with regard to ACC football right now. Clemson? Yes. Syracuse? Yes. There are nothing but huge question marks and hope related to FSU, Miami, GaTech and VaTech football. Huge question marks with State being able to sustain its limited success. Huge question marks regarding if Mack can bring UNC back to the success they had during his first tenure. Louisville is one big question mark as well. So is Pitt. So I guess a 12 hour slate on the potential of ACC football programs is what will get new viewers? What are they going to show? A feature about the turnover chain which results in Miami winning exactly what and being in contention for what? Or maybe they can show how U of L football team and coach quit on each other resulting in what? Maybe they can show UNC's spiral toward the absolute bottom through inept coaching and injury. They can call it from Coastal Champs to Coastal chumps.

The network is new and I would rather support, celebrate something everyone doubted and hope for the best. Rather than tearing ish down for no reason. It will get better. Sorry for the rant but damn.
