Pac-12: USC, UCLA, California, Oregon, Washington ||
ACC: Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Miami ||
Big 12: Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Oklahoma State, West Virginia ||
B1G: Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin ||
SEC: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Texas A&M ||

No major mistakes that I can see.

Here's the draft order (P5 only) for rounds 1 & 2:
Pac, ACC, XII, B1G, SEC, SEC, B1G, XII, ACC, Pac

It's important to get great value in the first 2 picks, IMO.

The first pick should be easy enough. These are my top teams - just take the highest one available:

ACC Big Board (unprotected teams):
1. Notre Dame
2. LSU
3. Tennessee
4. Nebraska

(Sorry, GTS, but if LSU and TN are both available, I have to take LSU)

The 2nd pick is much tougher. Here are the top Eastern-ish teams I expect to be available:

Maryland
South Carolina
Kentucky
Missouri
Northwestern
Ole Miss
Purdue
Indiana

Any recommendations on how to order those?

I'm also going to contact the other GMs about trading down for extra picks - assuming the Pac-12 takes Notre Dame.

Michigan State, Illinois, Iowa, Arizona State, and Arizona are good P5 choices not protected.

My list would go something like: Notre Dame, Tennessee, Michigan State, Illinois, Kentucky, GT, UVA, Indiana or Purdue, Maryland, Duke, South Carolina, Missouri, Pitt, Vandy, Iowa, Northwestern...

Yes, I saw that the Big Ten decided to protect Nebraska instead of Michigan State. Worse for the Big XII, better for the ACC.

I also forgot to include unprotected teams from the ACC on my big board - duh!

Not sure I would agree with putting Illinois that high though.

Illinois has 50k students and is the only P5 public school in a large wealthy state. I guess it depends on what your goals are. They don't have football power but I bet they bring in a huge amount of tv money.

TBH, Northwestern IS on my board (direct access to Chicago, an ACC-type school, and a better athletic department than Illinois as far back as I can remember)

I certainly wouldn't value Northwestern more than Illinois.

RE: The Realignment Mock Draft
I'm not selecting any Pac 12 teams because of geography.
I'm not selecting UVA because we have a VA school protected.
Because we have Clemson protected, I left South Carolina unselected.

1) Notre Dame
2) LSU
3) Tennessee
4) Georgia Tech
5) Duke
6) Michigan St
7) Kentucky
8) TCU
9) Maryland
10) Syracuse
11) Louisville
12) Arkansas
13) Iowa
14) Boston College
15) Ole Miss
16) Missouri
17) Pitt
18) Kansas St
19) Indiana
20) Illinois

Not saying you're wrong, but please explain why you think GT, Duke and Kentucky are top 10 (I think I know, but I'm trying to weigh every factor)

Georgia Tech is in the quintessential college football market and has shown that they can be good in both major sports. And they fill in a geographic hole in the protected footprint.

Duke is top 10 because paired with UNC produce must watch basketball that can carry a whole conference in basketball forever. They also have nice academics. Normally I wouldn't select a team that we have a team protected in the same state but I thought the Duke/UNC rivalry transcended that.

Kentucky is a basketball blue blood that paired up with UNC and Duke would create 4 more must watch basketball games a year. Kentucky has more value if Duke is already selected. Louisville has more value if Kentucky is already selected.

I'd take GT or Duke over anyone remaining on the list.

If we're only talking football, then I'd have to redo my list.

RE: The Realignment Mock Draft
As best that I can figure out, the Big 12 traded Texas for the 1st P5 pick and took ND. Hokie Mark took Tennessee instead of LSU which I agree with. There should be enough teams in the east that the ACC can be reasonably geographically coherent.

Yeah, I was trying to broker a 2-for-2 trade, but that fell through. After Tenn I'll take the best available P5 either in the Eastern Time Zone or not far from it. There are 6 more P5 picks before I go again, so hard to say who will be available.

PAC12 has the first pick. They will pick Notre Dame and trade it to B1G. This is the only way that B1G can get Notre Dame. They will make sure PAC12 do exactly as instructed.

Pac-12 actually traded their 1st to the Big XII for Texas. Big XII then selected ND. I ended up grabbing Tennessee, and the Big XII is back on the clock for their original pick (I expect them to take LSU). After that it's B1G, SEC, SEC #2, B1G #2, XII (again), then back to ACC - unless there are other trades I'm not aware of?

I'm probably going to take "best available" every round, with tie-breakers going to the teams in the East.
