You had tied the game and had runners at second and third with one out in the ninth. That had nothing to do with a closer.

Ever heard of a squeeze?

He came in the top of the 9th in order to keep UAB from scoring more (game was already 5-3 UAB).

He gave up a hit, and then after giving up an intentional walk to hopefully get a double play with bases loaded, he walked the batter and gave UAB a free run to make it 6-3.

Then Troy works to tie up the game in the bottom of the 9th, and fortunately makes it a 6-6 game.

Then the closer comes back in, and gives up a solo home run that cleared the 30 ft. wall in center field, on a pitch that was mistakenly left too high, which gave UAB all they needed to win.

There have been a few different occasions where Troy has been fortunate to win close games when he has been closing. I know of others we have lost because of his bad location with his pitching and his problem with walks.

You tied the game and had runners at second and third with one out. Regardless of what happened in the top of the ninth, the game was right there for you to win.

And the fact the game got untied next inning doesn't change the fact you should have won the game.

The other thing to take into account is what we know about Troy’s closer. He’s very good in 1 inning stints, the more hitters he faces, The dicier it becomes. When we played him earlier this year he got 8 outs in 9 hitters. Then the next 5 guys got on base

Coastal beat NC State 7-6.

South down a run in the 7th.

We're going at least 3-1 against ranked teams.

So the worst closer in the history of the game gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of a meaningless midweek game? Facetious much?

Our closer gave up 2 runs on 1 hit and 3 walks in the 9th. By that standard he must be the worst closer in the history of the universe

Well... here's a clip of our pitcher in action, just so you have proof.

Wish y'all had brought her in during our series with y'all . . . .

. . . we might have won that series . . . instead of just salvaging one.

Good mid-week for the league.

10-4 overall and 3-1 vs. ranked teams.

7 of 12 in the league have RPIs under 100 now and only one 200+ team.

App and ULM is starting 2 p.m. ET on Friday.

We might as well say "we will play baseball sometime starting on Friday and complete three games by Sunday at 5 p.m." on our schedule. But we'll get all three games in somehow. Coastal can attest to that.

The weather will play havoc with more series than not.

We are expecting bad weather Saturday as well. It has moved our spring football game into our indoor practice facility.

And will probably wash out Saturday's game against South.

Our spring game was moved to tonight. An excuse for me to leave work early and do a little day drinking.

RE: Belt baseball April 12-14
Little Rock takes game 1 of a DH today with Coastal 9-4

If the Trojans were to win this series, and AState win its series with UTA, we would reach bizzaro Sun Belt status, where at the halfway mark of the league, the two Arkansas schools would be in first place.

Little Rock is something like 7-1 since the Pigs foolishly chose to break their instate scheduling policy
