2018: 134 OPS+/1.3 bWAR
2019: 115 OPS+/0.7 bWAR

Overall, he's had a very strange career.

He shoulda' went west Coast. Eventually he'll be an albatross in Philly.

Nats- wow- 10 games under .500 now. How long for Martinez?

I don't know how he manages to keep his job. They're one of the worst teams in baseball.

Austin Riley hit a dinger for his 3rd HR in just 5 games. Move him up in lineup to cleanup behind Freeman , then Markakis, then Donaldson. I think Swanson hits better from the next spot than he does in 2nd hole. Ender Incirte's going to have a problem when he comes off IR. Hey, d-backs, want him back? Who ya got to trade? (bullpen help preferred.)

Edit: BTW: Soroka carried a perfect game into the sixth inning, Now 5-1 1.01 ERA. Hope he can stay healthy.

Sean Newcomb, a starter last season, picks up his first save. Will Braves change their mind about Kimbrel after June 3? Looks like they are righting the ship, but will need some reinforcements to have a shot at Philly, Chicago and LA. The Braves are again a fun team to watch. Too bad we don't have them on TBS anymore. America's Team would be great to have again!

I miss the old setup with TBS. Fortunately, I'm in the Braves regional broadcast market.

The youth are pretty much carrying this team right now, and if we had a bullpen we'd be dangerous. I wouldn't be against paying for Kimbrel, but it will probably take him a month to iron out the kinks.

Overall, he's had a very strange career.

Had a good throw the other day. And a big HR. He'll still do that periodically.

The guy leveraged one big WAR season and really great hair into a $330MM contract. The boos in Philly are still pretty good-natured but they're going to get real if he can't figure a way to get more productive.

Man, the Nats are totally screwing with my draft pick. I don't get how a team with Eaton, Robles, Turner, Soto, Rendon, Suzuki, scherzer, Strasburg and Corbin can be 19-30 and essentially eliminated before June. That top 5 pick is supposed to be mine. Leave it alone

lol.

of course the Nats will fire Dave Martinez and get better.... What a mistake Rizzo made again not resigning a veteran manager(Davey Johnson, Dusty Baker) and going with a young piece of trash who totally screwed everything up. The Lerners need to fire not only Martinez, but Rizzo's sorry ass as well....

RE: 2019 MLB Thread
I know it drives some people nuts, and last night was certainly frustrating as a Dodgers fan, but it's pretty damned impressive how the Rays can just keep trotting guys out from the bullpen, and every one of them has a good-to-great ERA. You keep thinking, alright, the NEXT guy we'll be able to hit, but here comes another dude I've never heard of who continues to shut things down. They've got all of 3 guys with ERA over 3.46, and one of them is Font, at 5.79 but a very respectable 3.44 FIP. The other two guys represent all of 24 IP this season.

Is this sustainable?

That is how more lefty hitters should do it. HItters are so absorbed by power, they don’t know how to hit to all fields.

Maybe he has political connections in Congress...we could say the same about a lot of them as well. Okay, back to baseball.

Question RE: 2019 MLB Thread
Swarzak's line so far: (that's 2Ks)

A. Swarzak 1.0 0 0 0 0 2 0 15-10 0.00ERA

They hated him in Seattle, if he could give us just a little here it would be huge. Fingers crossed.

Fried now 7-2 after last night. need a few more rookies to come up and pitch well. Gettin' there.

Question RE: 2019 MLB Thread
Braves and Gints knotted up at 4 apiece in top 12th... Riley with yet another Homer (his 5th) and 2 more RBIs (11). This is only game 9 for his career. Nice start kiddo.

Edit; Riley singles in Swanson fro first, 5-4 Braves, 13RBIs in 9 games for Riley. Not bad. Hold onto this one (don't worry, Swoosh, no Braves lead is safe so far this year.)

Metz beat the Nots 6-4 today. The Nots now have as many losses (31) as the Marlins do. Let that sink in.
