I suppose it's a possibility, but I've been around this program since the late 70's and I haven't seen it happen yet. These guys have been 1 or 2 years and done. However, look at the young unknown guys we've brought in and where the majority are now. Personally I have no desire to see App get on board the coaching carosel.
Pretty sure its inevitable. App has been in rare air to have had a head coach stick around as long as Jerry Moore did. Before that it was a revolving door. Scott stuck around as long as it took for a big job to come along. So you could almost say our coaching stability began and ended with Jerry.

Hardly a revolving door. From 1970 the 18 years leading up to JM: Jim Brakefield 9 yrs - retired , Mike Working 3 yrs - fired, Mac Brown 1 yr - to Oklahoma, Sparky Woods 5 yrs - to South Carolina. In addition, JM walked into an outstanding situation built by Sparky.

Everyone was hoping we wouldn't trash the 3-4 defense as that's what we've recruited towards. However, Eli was hired because of his ability as an Offensive Coordinator and I think most of us expected changes to occur. To ask him to learn/adapt to Satt's system would do nothing but handicap him and us on the field. He's been involved in implementing his offensive system 3 times before with success so I wouldn't expect him to do something different at App.

All that is well and good, but if he falters the folks who have been singing his praises will turn on him like the senators did to Julius Caesar.

Those are the same that turned on Satt his when he started off a little rocky. That's also why I tend to avoid message board game threads and "venting" threads during the season.

I'm excited about the beginning of the Drink era. I also understand that we have to let the coaches coach their way and implementing a new system, with new terminology, etc. can take time. We're not going to have a fully implemented Offensive and Defensive system on Aug 31. Good thing is UNC-C, UNC-CH and Coastal (to a smaller extent) are in the same boat. We won't play a FBS opponent that has a returning head coach until October 9.

If we lose to UNC-CH I can see those fans saying Satt would have won that game. He never beat a P5 as HC.

Some close to Scott have the opinion he never really got over being turned on by his "family" during that first year and a half.

There's always going to be a negative and vocal minority among any fan-base. I hope he's learned how to handle that better as Louisville's fans won't give him near the leeway the vast majority of our fans gave him before their fans turn on him. I wish him nothing but the best, but I feel the state of Louisville football is worse off than their fans are willing to admit and may take more time to turn around than they're willing to give.

Might've been better to say he didn't get over the feeling the App family turned against him. That said, this is college football. If he really felt that way then toughen up butter cup because Louisville fans are merciless.
