You can't tell me that loss benefits Pitt because it doesn't. Even if you're going for extra Florida exposure, a LOSS isn't helping there. Why not play FAU or FIU instead?

Your line of thinking is exactly why it's laughable when people trash UCF's schedule. Good for Pitt for playing them and not being *******.

Playing Pitt didn't help UCF all that much either, based on the polls.
The Knights need to play a team like Alabama or LSU - leave no doubt. Beat an ACC team and the polls will never give the credit you deserve.

-It should've for Pitt
-Those level teams definitely won't play UCF

I can't help the fact that so many SEC West teams refuse to play AAC teams. They prefer to feast on Sun Belt and C-USA cupcakes for the most part.

That said, it's also a sad fact that Pitt/UCF was a virtual no win scenario - for BOTH teams. The loser was going to be labeled as "bad" while the winner "hasn't played anyone".

RE: Northern ACC football
I understand the PSU logic at this point of not playing Pitt, too. It's a no win game for them because they're supposed to beat Pitt and yet Pitt's team will always get up for the rivalry and pose more of a threat to them than an ordinary team of Pitt's caliber. I wouldn't want that game on my schedule.

Pitt is in a similar scheduling predicament with some of the G5 teams. Pitt is usually supposed to beat them but there are some that are really good and pose a threat to Pitt. If Pitt wins, they're just taking care of business and, as others have said, "haven't played anyone."

FYI - I don't agree with the "haven't played anyone" logic and all you need to do is look at how good UCF is this year to dispel that notion. There is good football being played in the G5. It just doesn't benefit Pitt to get into a cage match with one of those teams.

I'd like Pitt to get into scheduling as easy an OOC as possible and then negotiating to get out of games that look really unfavorable for a while. Pitt just isn't that good and needs all the wins they can get, even if it costs money to get a more favorable matchup and buy a win.
