If a 3-5 star recruit that had signed with an FBS school came knocking on your door wanting to transfer in because they didn't like their situation at their current school, why would you not want them???

And transfers happen at FBS levels as well, if they didn't Malzhan would never have success.

Nobody said to not accept transfers.

We have several on our team.

But we also don't depend on them. And we don't accept them en masse.

That's what I'd bet on.

I wouldn't.

Why?

Grass is waiting for Anderson to leave A-State so he can move to Jonesboro and replace him.02-13-banana

Would say JSU depends on them as 6 are starters and 2 of those are JUCO. Three are OL/DL others are skill guys.

App was the same way.

When JSU played NDSU in the NC game a couple of years back, JSU had 11 transfers while NDSU had 7 (non JUCO).
We have more on our team now probably around 16-17 but less JUCO transfers. The total normally runs around 20 for both type transfers combined.

20 is a lot.

That's ~1/3 of the available scholarships allotted for FCS.

You're in the ******* south. You can throw a rock in any direction and hit all kinds of recruits.

The public schools in the South will probably have more transfers than any other region. Or at least among the better teams in FCS. Northern teams which have few low level FBS schools to compete against for recruits seem to have less. The western school fall in the middle. If you check the rosters, JSU, JMU, Sam Houston, Kennesaw and UCA will probably have more transfers (JUCO included) than any other teams still in the playoffs.

Kennesaw makes sense as they needed to build depth a bit differently while starting their program.

But all you're doing is justifying an inability to recruit.

Not justifying anything just giving you the numbers. Im not too worried about how we compose the team I just want them to win and entertain.

One non-transfer you guys have, EJ Moss, will be a star for you guys next year. I'll be at the game this weekend scouting out our next head coach.

GO JSU!!! 04-cheers Although the longer you play the longer we have to wait.

I think if you're scouting our next coach then you're likely not in Jacksonville this weekend. I don't think Grass is even in our top 4. If Grass did become our coach it would mean our other candidates have accepted other jobs or were disinterested. As of now, none of them are disinterested at all.

By the way. If you look at JSU's roster, which has been stigmatized concerning transfer/JUCO players, it is a just stigma. If you count transfer players who have started at least half their games, it represents nearly 40% of all players. Notice I said 40% of all players and not 40% of scholarship players. USA is not looking for a band aid coach that will try to transfer and JUCO his way to success in FBS.

Not even sure, and dont believe, even 40% of our starters are transfers (JUCO included). I do know 40% of our roster is not made up of transfers who have started half of their games because 40% of our roster isnt transfers. We have around 20-25 transfers which would be well less than 40% of a 105 man roster.

According to my Apple Watch I only got 2 hours of sleep as I had to make an early flight. It was early when I made that post and you are correct I did mis-state the point I was trying to make. The “40% of all players” was not accurate. I meant to say if you take the players who have started half or more of JSU’s games it represents nearly 40% of THOSE players — not all players. 03-drunk

100% juice does not mean what you're drinking is only juice. What it means is of the juice that's included, it's 100%. It has not been mixed with anything prior to it's inclusion in the drink.

UT has... well had a moronic AD. It’s terrible for TN to have had so many public “No” responses. We have a competent AD that is doing things the right way. No offers have been made yet so there is nothing for anyone to have turned down. Our original “short” list had 50 names on it. That has been trimmed to 20 recently (probably less now). And of those, there are 4 I’d consider front runners — all of which have expressed interest in the job. I don’t think we’ve even reached out to Grass and not sure where he might fall on the list.

Arkansas State has a lot of transfer and JUCO and they win.

Well, I can tell you we have a top 3 pecking order and each candidate is/has interviewing/interviewed this week. Many other coaches have expressed interest, and have made it know they would accept the position if offered, but we are focusing on our top 3 candidates first and if we have a match with one of them we’ll make an offer. If not, we’ll move onto the next tier of names on our list.
