Who would you bump in favor of all five Trojan starters?

I would bump Erick Neal for Wesley Person Jr. He's a better shooter.

Pearson is not better than Neal. I've seen both. Close in ability, but shooting is not the entire game. This isn't the NBA

Neal is one of the best PG's in the nation.

ASSISTS
Neal - 6.4
Person - 1.6

TO's
Neal - 3.6
Person - 1.3

A/TO ratio
Neal - 1.8
Person - 1.2

Steals
Neal - 1.7
Person - 0.6

FG%
Neal - 39.7%
Person - 43.4%

3FG%
Neal - 35.6%
Person - 40.0%

Person is a good player. I'd take him as a starting shooting guard on the Mavs hands down. I would not trade him straight up for Neal. Were Person playing for UTA instead of Troy and had Neal dishing him the ball, all of his numbers would be better.

I guess it's just a matter of different styles of play also. Person seems to be a perfect fit for exactly what Cunningham is trying to run at Troy vs UTA.

Most certainly. Troy shoots a gazillion 3's a game. They pretty much have to have someone like Person to be successful in that strategy.

UTA plays a more penetrate and dish style of game that relies on the PG's ability to get to the rim and find open players, or if needed, take the shot himself. Neal fits them to a T.

I'm just glad we don't shoot as many 3's as we did when Maestri was coach. His run-and-gun style worked during the 90's and early 00's, but that was it.

FUN FACT: Troy holds the all-time NCAA record (across all divisions) for most 3-pointers attempted in a season, which is 1,303. Happened during the 1992-1993 season. Troy also gained the moniker "Trey State" after that.

Troy averaged 112 points per game that season, and lost to Cal State Bakersfield in the D-II national championship.

What if Troy goes back to the dribble-drive offense? 03-woohoo
