No.

Like I said before, don't go all knee-jerk after Power wins like that.

LU will never be a cultural fit. Not sure why they hired Baylors sketchy AD.

Idaho is still outside the footprint.

NMSU is the one we should question, if we are going to question.

Shhhhh.... This conference can't see past the prior week.

If Idaho and Liberty lose next week... Everyone will be saying "SEE? IT WAS SMART TO NOT INVITE THEM!"

Because... well, thinking long-term is hard.

Hey, I'm not thinking all that long-term. I'm only thinking past Chuck Staben. Revisit the 2-year extension that was denied 18 months ago and we can take the Idaho football program out of a death spiral, give the Sun Belt another decent team to be proud of and win some OOC games, and make the conference some more money in the process.

What Petrino and your players have done to keep it together is amazing. But still outside the footprint for us.

If yesterday is any indication, it will be a long year for the Sun Belt.

Hopefully, USA can beat OSU, ASU can beat Miami or the Warhawks can sneak up on FSU.

If Liberty and Idaho are not good enough for us, maybe we should invite Tennessee State and Jackson State. They have great fans, travel well, are in the middle of our geographic footprint and can compete immediately.

No. Jacksonville State beat Ole Miss once. They're never getting in this Sun Belt.

I like Coastal in conference better than Liberty. They're not going to revisit Idaho back in SBC.

Credit to them when it's due.... They beat a P5 team, and that's impressive, particularly since (I THINK) they are FCS.

I still don't think it was a mistake not to invite them, but they won and deserve credit for that.

Unless Baylor is the new Kansas. Then Liberty should have been favored. The 50 guys good FCS teams travel with generally are as good as middle of the pack G5 programs. Baylor may be below that middle level G5 this year as they essentially received a modified version of the death penalty; public shaming so bad that they will return to their historical mean.
I checked lines before the LU/Baylor game. Baylor was favored by 35+ points and LU had a 2.2% chance of victory.

Baylor didnt lose out on as many recruits as people think and they still have their big pile of money and great facilities and well paid staff. I would imagine that very few of the top prospects give a hoot about all the controversy. they want to play at a top program that they perceive will be a good showcase for their talents and that will lead to that big pro contract.

I'm happy for LIberty but make no mistakes about it, Baylor is far removed from a Georgia, Nebraska or Auburn. Looking at the replays, App, Ga Southern and State all played top teams but I also saw some good things from each of the SBC teams. All three of these power teams will win a lot of games and make other teams look bad in the process. State was impressive, App will be fine and I suspect Ga Southern will be pretty salty before the season is over. You don't beat a top P5 team unless you have a lot of horses of your own plus a little luck.

None of this matters. Liberty has moved on and the Sunbelt has moved on. I'm happy with going independent and think it's a great fit and the Sunbelt is happy with what they have. Not much more to say now.

The plaintiff in a high profile case recently requested that McCaw, and even Briles, be removed as a defendant.

Congrats Liberty, do your thing. Liberty detractors will never give you a fair shake and we all know why and it has nothing to to with football.

NO! To either of these two teams. Happy you aren't on the expansion selection committee.

Agreed, but I'm still glad they're NOT in The Belt . . .

Considering the reason(s) for Baylor's recent fall from grace, I wouldn't mind if they went 0 fer . . I know that it would suck for the kids that had nothing to do with that scandal, but that program deserves whatever suckage befalls it . . . .

And let's not forget... Liberty hired the very athletic director that oversaw all that BS at Baylor, too. I didn't read the whole thread because it had too many responses by the time I came across it, so this may have already been pointed out. But if I were another SBC school, I'd be much happier with the addition of Coastal given the personnel we invest in. And that's not being a homer. Our president is as good as they get. Our AD Hogue is just as good. Moglia oversees athletic budgetary spending with his decades of Wall St experience. We plan meticulously and get things done the right way, not the easiest way. And our region is still one of the top three growing regions in the country. Our athletic growth may not happen overnight the way Liberty can throw billions of dollars at a project (with no government oversight) but it's still incredibly fast. So while this Baylor win is impressive--I won't deny that-- it doesn't change the fact that you have a stable, growing program in CCU with competent leadership, while Jerry Jr runs a monarchy and has a history of questionable decision making at best.

I know the overall opinion on here is that you all are content with the CCU invitation, but I just wanted to put that out there.

This is a nice, feel good, self appreciating post. All is missing is the cheerleading uniform. CCU is a better fit for the SBC. CCU is a comfortable, non threatening fit for the SBC. LU is not that for the SBC and will succeed to higher ranks as an indy.

Liberty is paying P5 level pay checks to teams scheduling them, something that public schools could never do that are not in the P5. As a free market guy, I say more power to them, but what they are doing is exactly why SBC presidents could not vote for them. Will they get to "higher ranks" as an independent? That remains to be seen. Baylor has been a program in serious, serious turmoil so that can't be discounted. However, it's a great first win while Liberty is in transition.

JMU had all the scheduling gods in thier favor again hitting ECU while they are clearly struggling. Again, still, it's a great win for the defending FCS champs. I think App and JMU will cross paths again at some point as conference not in the P5 make adjustments to improve quality and lower costs.

Coastal is a public of similar size and mission.
Most FCS playoff appearances? Coastal by a wide margin
Most NCAA tournament appearances? Coastal
Most NCAA baseball appearances? Coastal by a wide margin
Most NCAA men's soccer appearances? Coastal by a wide margin

But hey Liberty beat Baylor.
