We cant block and most of the plays dont take advantage of our speed so y'all good.
Worry in about two years when we both have new HC's, you because Neal is at Houston and us because finally we could afford CTS's buyout and hired some other obscure coordinator with a southern accent with no coaching experience.

RE: Article on GA Southern Changes Play Caller
I wouldn't worry about who is calling the plays. The our blocking is some of the worst in CFB (if not the worst).

It is also a way the head coach has of deflecting heat. This is an example of the problems the SBC schools have and that is the inability to buy out coaches contracts. The head coach should be gone after this season.

You think we should have fired Gus in 2012?

Agree with everyone else. No way Dean is going to change up schemes, personnel, blocking assignments, etc. He may make us look a bit more competent based on the playcalls, but I doubt our OL will be able to execute the blocking assignments as necessary to make the plays effective.

Unless he throws the freshman qb in and goes full air raid. They can pass block well. But then our WR's cant catch anything because the frosh has a 99 mph fastball and that's it.

I don't think you are ready to handle our many variations of run right, run left, dropped pass and punt.

True, he is already using the its the coordinators fault before his first season is out. Most bad coaches keep that in their back pockets until at the end of year two to squeeze another year or two out before being fired. He cant fire the DC because he basically is the DC.

Pulling the OC in year one goes directly to how idiotic his hires were. This OC already took top ten FCS talent and could not even make the playoffs the first time he was here. Now he takes a team sniffing the top 25 last two years that led the nation in rushing and turned into the worst offense in the FBS.

He should be fired but we just dont have the money. The sad thing is I doubt it gets worse next year and any blind squirrel improvement will be blown up and be used to justify one more year.

What's the thoughts on this eagles?

As I said on our home board, we have exchanged one former Chris Hatcher OC for another. Our problems are much more fundamental than playcalling. That being said, I am hopeful that it will help point us in the right direction.

Dont forget when we have our RB run as hard as he can into the backs of the O line. I think it is supposed to go past the line of scrimmage but I have not seen it yet so I dont know.

The GS Defense is pretty solid. They are just being left on the field way too long.

It is fair to point to the bad hires Summers made, but that is part of the problem with young, first year coaches. He made bad decisions when building his staff. He should be allowed to correct that mistake. Some changes in OC and OL coaches could lead to a big change but that's not happening until next year. Obviously, an S&C coach is needed badly also.

Actually the defense has been getting worse as well but the dumpster fire on offense is just distracting most from this.

I wonder if that isn't a bigger part of the problem then the OL coaching itself. If guys are out of shape, or don't have the same quick burst off the line, it's no wonder they are not getting to 2nd level blocks and sealing LB's. The last guy with CWF was great, then the guy Summers hired came in guns blazing, the team was tweeting about how much they were getting their butts kicked, and then he was up and gone all of the sudden, midsummer. We have an interim now. I'll be watching to see if we make a good hire here in the offseason.

Never underestimate the importance of that S&C program. When App struggled during the transition years a HUGE part of the problem was that our S&C coach left and was replaced with a guy who wasn't cutting it. There were other reasons (huge number of players red-shirting, and other strategic issues) but the S&C was a problem. I've never seen App teams look as tired in the 4th quarter as they did during that period. (It was improving in 2014 but our new coach only got there during the summer so we didn't have benefit of his full off-season program). The S&C is the unsung hero of many great programs and rarely gets the credit he deserves.
