Is there a single team that would move to CUSA?

The Sunbelt might not be in position to poach anybody, but CUSA isn't either. Just a few short years ago, Sunbelt members were climbing over each other to get to CUSA. Those days are over.

CUSA should be better then the Sunbelt. A few years ago, when they were still living off that fat TV contract (that was a result of the teams in the current AAC), they could have focused on adding good teams. Instead they went with those oh so special markets. They took two Sunbelt programs that will actually be missed, but they also cleared a bunch of dead weight. Now the contract and the quality of the football are in the toilet.

If they added schools like Ark. State or ULL or Georgia Southern or App, the TV contract might not be much better, but at least the product would be.

No offense to our departing teams, but next year (?) our conference strength will rise dramatically.

THIS.

Also the Belt will have four teams that have all been in the FBS officially less than four years that all will continue to grow and get better. A lot will depend on how CCU does. Either way the Belt will be fine we have not lost ground on anyone with each round of reallignment. There are more than enough good FCS candidates to fill any gap vacated if a team gets stolen. Sometimes its addition by subtraction. There is a not a current or former team that has accomplished anything to this point a quality FCS move up could not in the same amount of time.

Looking at their schedules only a handful of FCS games left and UMASS is the only gimmee wins left OOC. Same for us this is a big weekend for the Belt.

I see us losing to houston akron unlv and tulame, and maybe western michigan. not really going to be that good a weekend.

All coin flips might as well be glass half full.

Current Massey Conference Means (lower is better)
63.98 - AAC
82.34 - MWC
84.22 - MAC
95.02 - SBC
97.92 - CUSA

If Idaho and NMSU's departure from the Sun Belt was this year, the rankings would currently be:
63.98 - AAC
82.34 - MWC
84.22 - MAC
89.87 - SBC
97.92 - CUSA

no doubt CUSA is gambling on ODU,UNCC,FAU,FIU, to strengthen the conference, the problem is they we're counting on them to be much further along in growth. 5 years ago ODU was going to build this beautiful 35,000 seat stadium on the river, now, their stuck with renovating their existing stadium that only holds 22,000. UNCC is coming to grips with the reality, that they probably moved up way too early, and from a talent standpoint, are just an average FCS program, FAU, FIU, have been traditionally below average programs, and it appears nothing in the near future is going to change that. Bottom line is CUSA took a gamble these schools would quickly become solid, if not great G5 programs in a relatively short time, but it appears that's not going to happen.

Much of what's happening is a result of extraordinary luck on the part of the Sun Belt. The game changer has been the new adds with talent rich Georgia being what gives. So under served but now a nice set of additions to the big leagues has all but eliminated the vacuum. Only the Dekota's remain that could have such an impact. CUSA goes after them successfully things may change but not much.

Who in the SBC is itching to join coosa? Maybe a few uninformed and foolish fans that miss some former Belt teams. The SBC has pulled past coosa except maybe in basketball.

You've got some facts confused regarding ODU's stadium plan. It was only three years ago the master plan that called for a stadium near the river came out. That site was abandoned for several reasons. I don't know if renovation is the right word since the only parts of the existing stadium that will be left when we're done will be the field itself and the south endzone facilities which were built in 2009. The initial phase will be 22k but after the final phase it will seat 30k.

That will be a lot better than the current setup. Good luck.

I'm fine with where we are at. The SBC is a good fit and I enjoy playing most of the teams. I wouldn't mind playing or being in a conference with cusa members either, but there is almost no reason now for anyone in either conference to move.

Most teams that used the FCS as a pit stop to the FBS have been dumpster fires. You cant buy a culture of winning, fans, history, tradition and reputation. Those are all earned and are priceless.

I can't argue with you about that. But I'm just glad the Sun Belt is not quite as bad a CUSA.
