We need to enhance the perception of the SBC and that won't happen with scraping by Lake Charles.

1. Will the Cajuns really be able to outdraw MSU in the Superdome, or will this turn into a quasi MissStake home game?

2. Is this really a good idea when your rivals from Ruston were able to get a straight home and home agreed with the same program?

Chief, Mullen has refused to come to Lafayette with Hud here....

I just find it weird that you are willing to sacrifice the money that a 35,000 plus crowd would bring to the Lafayette economy to satisfy New Orleans based it alums.

It's the exact argument we have daily at stAte about why we never play in Little Rock. They may have our largest alum base, but we're too important a boom to the Jonesboro economy to sacrifice a home game.

Many of us have made that same point. But it's falling of deaf ears in Lafayette. The only way that this is beneficial is if we still schedule 6 true home games.

This is great. In fact Mississippi State should be recognized as an honorary member of the Sun Belt Conference. They have scheduled home and home series with a number of Sun Belt teams over the years.

Just some thoughts.

From what I saw of the contract that was posted, omitting game day operational expenses, we're renting the Superdome for $25K. I'm sure the ticketing, concession, security, and other game day services will be more expensive than if we hosted the game but I'm not sure it would be multiple times higher. One item missing might be the opportunity for tailgating to the scale we have at home, but we've tailgated at the N.O. Bowls we've attended. With a 38K maximum attendance in Cajun field I think it would be reasonable to expect an attendance of 50K at the absolute minimum, and with it being a long weekend (labor day) it would appear to be a date where you could entice more travelers. Even for those who just drive in for the game, it puts it closer to State so hopefully more will travel than would come the extra 2-1/2 hours to Lafayette. The contract also looks like we also have the opportunity to generate advertising revenue in the stadium video boards that can offset some of the operational costs. What I like the look of is its a number of years in the future, so there shouldn't be any excuses to get that advertising sold to the maximum possible.

Hotel rooms in the quarter could be an issue on Labor Day weekend. There's a big festival on that weekend and the patrons usually book way ahead. Also, certain hotels are block booked (the omni, the bourbon orleans) that weekend. Not that New Orleans is particularly family friendly...Labor Day is decidedly less family friendly. CBD hotel rooms are less in demand that weekend. I'll bet many of the people in Lafayette and Starkville aren't even aware of it. If you're planning on going, and plan on staying downtown, and don't want "the full New Orleans experience", I'd book ahead, stay within one block of canal or in the CBD.

Down side is you'll have to wait until at least the middle of 2018 to start looking for rooms.

Tech did get a home/home, but it was also part of (kinda) another 2/1 deal. Anyway, in actuality it wasn't a straight home/home. State does play in Ruston next year.

Also found out today that for the Superdome game the Cajuns will get 57% and MSST 43% of any revenue generated. I was hoping for much more, but there appears to be some offsets to the costs associated with the game and the overall Superdome lease is not bad at all.
