Exclamation Troy signs home-and-home deal with Akron
Troy will host Akron in 2017, then make the return trip to Akron in 2019.

What sucks about this is that we were supposed to host NC State next season, and they apparently have bought out the contract to not come to Troy. Iowa State did this to us back in 2005... at least we still get Boise State.

Not a bad home and home against a good and improving G5. We'll tell you how good in 3 weeks!

NC State is notorious about promising a return visit and then bailing. I was surprised they didn't leave USA holding the bag last year, but there's a family connection there that probably helped out.

NC State bought out their return trip to Troy? That sucks. I recall their fans coming to this board a couple years ago and said they would. But they also said the same thing about USA. I'm surprised they have the money to buy out a game.

That's a good series. That sucks that NC State cancelled. I wonder what the numbers break down to from what you were paid for your trip to NC State plus their buyout vs. a money game payout.

There's still a possibility we get NC St somewhere down the road. I'm not sure how likely it is though.

Akron won't buy you out... This is a great home and home for both schools.

Obviously Troy's had an idea this was coming for a while since they were able to easily replace it with another home and home.

They did. It was mentioned several months ago actually.

You'd have to look at the original contract. It sets a monetary amount. I know that Miami could have bought out their game in Jonesboro next year for 750K, but they were never a threat to pull out.

My guess is you already got 250K from NC State for travel expenses for the game in Raleigh last year. If you added that to a buyout of 750K, it would essentially equate to a guarantee game for $1 Million

I hope App gets another instate P5 on the schedule. We have Wake Forest with a home and home, but we really want UNC or NC State. If Chapel Hill or State buys out the return trip we just take the cash and call them chicken. it really is a win win for us. ECU is a possibility for another G5 but they keep whining we don't have enough seats, etc. We will get a good look against Miami what over capacity is plausible at KBS in a couple of weeks.

So in the future everyone needs to sign a home and home with NC State, so the schools can get free money. Who doesn't like free money? Also put in contract 2 mil to quit.

I'd imagine if NC State (or insert any school) builds a reputation of buying out their return games those buyout clauses will start to see significant increases.

Always good to sign a G5 H&H but admittedly I know nothing about Akron. Are they considered a good MAC program? I know they weren't last year but I haven't really followed much of what the MAC has done.

Akron was 8-5 last year and won their bowl.
