I've given football insight for days on the two QB system thread. Nobody is interested I guess. Or Eric is too smart to understand a dumb ole boy from Arkansas.

And then the La Tech fan shows up and all of the sudden the Sun Belt fans have a collective enemy.
Despite that, the football talent aficionado Seminole shows up to declare Arkansas State the undisputed Paper Champions of the NCAA while saying App and Southern are in the lower tier in terms of talent and coaching. Then you have State fans pulling for a close loss in the event a shared championship occurs. What they fail to realize is that the last time a newbie came to "The Bank" to play, they lost. As such, I believe it to be more productive to be focused on winning against Georgia Southern than focusing on whether or not App loses to Tennessee; mainly due to the fact that Southern gets App at home and State has no home field advantage to speak of.
It's the Vault. Last ******* thing this league needs is another name war.
Everyone just needs to admit you love Seminole and Bird, you don't quote me, you don't quote Chiefsfan, you don't quote ASUWon.
You need Seminole and Bird, you want them up on that wall.
Hahahaha

I think you may be on to something.

At least most Sun Belt fans, and all Arkansas State and LOUISIANA fans can agree on a certain disdain for La Tech at this point. Despite my respect for Coach Holtz due to his presence at ECU while I was there, the arrogance of the fan base is undeniable.

On another note: Several fans on the Vols board are now claiming that Gilchrist's hit at the end of the game was illegal due to the fact that he left his feet and led with his head.....it took a reasonable poster to mention that the heads placement on the body means that it is most likely going to make contact first in that position.
The funny thing was right before that play I reflected on the final drive against JMU in the '07 playoffs. The situation was dire and App let JMU march right down the field into field goal range which would win the game, the next thing you know, Micky inexplicably runs another play and the Apps create a turnover. That hit on Dobbs and the situation was all too familiar except that Stringer dove OVER the ball for the second time that game.

The wild thing is the way that ball bounced. If that thing goes the other direction, it likely goes into the end zone and out the side for a touchback, essentially giving App a field goal attempt at a win.
It had to be the perfect set of circumstances for that ball to bounce like it did...

The ball bounces a little higher on artificial turf. [yes, I'm being Captain Obvious]

I don't really take issue with this but Devin Stringer was in position twice and both times (the fumbled snap and endzone) the ball ended up between his legs. One could call it luck that he was in the vicinity twice but to have the ball end up at your legs, if i'm the player, tells me i'm having someone throw a ball at the ground while i'm scrambling to jump on it.
I know fumble recoveries are something NFL teams practice (due to the **** storm following the Super Bowl and Cam being in an odd position to recover his own fumble), but i'm not sure that it is something college teams are able to practice.

Had our chances to win and didn't. No moral victories here.
Agreed. No moral victories. You guys had that game in hand for most of that game. I was watching at a Three Dollar Cafe in ATL and literally the whole place was rooting hard for App. Tough loss but you represented the SBC well. Every sports station up here is saying UT fell flat. I disagree. App was that talented and UT wasn't prepared for what they faced. UT should consider themselves lucky. Hope to see more of this over the weekend.

Welp, pulling for App got me and my fiance in a fight since here family are all TN fans....typical thin skinned SEC fans, said if they dish it out they will have to take it...boom goes the dynamite. She is true blue btw. I know App is like GS in that we dont celebrate moral victories or atleast most dont. Just like us with thUGA you let them off the hook. I was sick when the last time out was left in the pocket and kickers, f'ing kickers..... As usual it is all how UT didnt perform and very little of giving App cred for possibly being a good team. Because we all know P5's should never struggle with the likes of a G5.

I was at the game last night and visiting and sitting with a group of old friends, most of which were big Vol boosters. They were shocked at the way App played at the line of scrimmage and the flying around gang tackling style. One guy was like "who the heck is your defensive coordinator", he's the guy we should have brought in. Never been prouder of the Apps but man I just wish the ball would have bounced a little differently last night.

I know at this level we don't want moral victories. We want the real damn thing. I didn't get to watch it as I was on the hill watching our own game. But I followed it on my phone checking the score often. Was pulling for you guys to pull it out. Being a border state with Hilljack Tennessee I detest the Tennessee Voles. When they play UK I don't know who I hate more.
You guys have done a great job since moving up and nothing about it has surprised me. You've always been a good program. I will always expect you to be a good program. I know it hurts this morning. You can what if yourself to death after a game like last night but you guys did well. Good luck rest of the year.
Not sure where you are dahbeed but if you have Charter Cable you should be able to log in online and play it on your computer.

I never bought the blow-out predictions. While I didn't think we'd hold then to 1 offensive TD in regulation, I knew this game was going to be a lot closer than most people thought. This team showed they belonged on that field last night. I've always thought we should be playing 1-A/FBS football. My Apps have come a long way in three short years. Man I am so looking forward to the future!

Why are these SEC refs? Shouldn't they be Sun Belt refs since App is the away team in an OOC match up?
The SEC team somehow usually has it in the contract that they will use SEC officials when playing teams from G5 conferences.

All the UT and SEC fans like to point out the mistakes the Vols made, but we had plenty of mistakes that cost us throughout the game. I'm not bashing the team as they played their tails off, but the arrogant P5 fans need to know we didn't play close to our best and still out played the Vols. If we can get the passing game going we're going to be scary good. Very proud of the effort and confidence our guys played with. Bring on ODU!
