You could play the men's games at the downtown Civic Center which is walking distance to all the downtown hotels and restaurants. Put on a street party (like the GoDaddy Bowl) and really make it fun for the visiting fans.

And the women could play at Spring Hill College's arena (2000 capacity) - 10 minutes from downtown and a beautiful campus/part of town.

Both would be "neutral" sites.

I think Pensacola would be a great site and Ashville would be pretty cool

Sorry, but that's not going to happen. No way the women play at a lesser arena than the men.

Timing wise, that's the only way it works. All 12 teams make the tournament beginning next season, trying to fit a tournament in without needing 7 full days would be extremely difficult without a 2nd court.

Only solution to fix would be to go back to first rounds at campus sites again,...

I still think the best solution for the league is to play out a home sites tournament and finish with the Championship game at the home of the higher seed. Best attendance and looks better on television.

Agreed. I've always likes that option for numerous reasons, not the least of which is hone court advantage for the teams that earned it, like every pro sport does minus the Super Bowl.

In the 70's the SoCon held the first round on campus at the higher seeded teamsand it worked out pretty good. I'm not a big fan of omitting teams from the tournament. With 12 teams why not hold two play-in games (6 v 3 & 4 v 5) for each side of the bracket on campus. Bye your top 4 seeds then have an 8 team tournament with the 6-3 winners playing 2 and the 5-4 winners play 1.

The Big South did that for years before changing to a host site. One of the main reasons they said they changed is because with TV it made it difficult not knowing where the championship game would be.

I also think the other issue was facilities, some BS teams have good facilities while others not so much. Probably not as much of an issue for the SBC. I know that while the facilities in the SBC are at different levels, they all should be capable of hosting a championship game.

No parking, not enough hotels close to the arena, only seats about 5K, too many homeless people, tree huggers and freaks in Asheville. Pass....

Lol, I think you may have left out a few stereotypes. I feel like Asheville could handle the event but then I don't mind visiting a city that has a little "diversity".

Why didn't you didn't comment on the no hotels, parking and small capacit arena aspect of my comment? Oh well. Asheville attracts people who march to the beat of a different drummer. There is A LOT of "diversity" in that city to be no larger than it is. The last time we were there you literally had to step over people on the sidewalks and a trip to the park on Haywood Street was well,,, entertaining to say the least. During my last visit to the Grove Arcade I was sitting beside a woman having a conversation with another person, who wasn't there. If nothing else it is an interesting place.

Ok, 3 garages downtown and 7000 rooms in Asheville. Granted all of those are not downtown but they've had discussions about overbuilding the supply downtown. To the arena, if 5k isn't enough for our tournament then I would be pleasantly surprised.

Memphis would be a great option, but they may not even consider hosting us, having to juggle the Grizzlies schedule and possible concerts going on too.

It is large, but nothing wrong with just selling tickets for the lower bowl. FedEx Forum is a fantastic facility. There's plenty of parking, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment all within walking distance of arena. It has 6 schools to the East, and 6 schools to the West. Any fans coming could park and never have to drive anywhere once they arrive, unless they want to go to Graceland.

East / West or even East / West / Middle.

East: Savannah or Charleston
Middle: Biloxi, New Orleans, other?
West: DFW, San Antoio, Houston, other?

A Charleston, Memphis, New Orleans rotation would work well.

Seems fitting three old southern towns would host.

Rotating locations are fine but I would go with Hot Springs (based on the support mentioned by stAte fans) and Myrtle Beach because we know they support the Big South tournament.

Southaven, MS would be just outside of Memphis. Between the city and Tunica. Just a thought.

Landers Center would not be too big. http://www.landerscenter.com/

I have enjoyed Asheville, but haven't been there in quite some time, so I don't know the demographic shift. Still, I doubt they would trade the SoCon tournament for ours. Asheville for the SoCon is like Greensboro for the ACC. Those two tournaments should always be held in those cities. We need to find an Asheville type city if we can.

I'm in, I drive by that place on my way to work 5 days a week. Maybe I should stop by one day and beg them to bid for our tournament.
