Realistically we may lose one of the conference games that I said we win. I'll say we should go 7-5 no matter what and we could definitely top that.

We really don t know what to expect. All we can say right now is Summers seems to have done a good job recruiting. He has not coached 1 game yet as a head coach. There are lots of questions about offensive philosophy and about some of our new assistants.

Time to pull back on the "We are world beaters" talk.

I see 8-4 next year, not going to beat Tenn and doubtful against Miami. Probably going to lose to GS, thought that's iffy considering the new hc and staff, no one is sure what he brings to the table as a game day coach, wait and see, and then we will get upset by maybe Troy, GSU, or Lafeyette

RE: Sunbelt 2016 Football Schedules, and Record Prediction?
Georgia Southern smacked Western Michigan around last season in Statesboro.

WMU is strong team lead by a excellent coach. Even if we come up there with a win, I can't imagine it to be easy.

Southern has struggled countless times when we play a great distance from home. This team will remember us whipping them in 2015. This will be tough game!

Personally, I think this is the toughest schedule Southern has EVER encountered. 4 extremely tough road games @Ark State, @GT, @Ole Miss, @WMU. Southern Senior leadership will be tested this season to have a 9-10 win season!

Personally, I think 9 win season is a possibility, but not going to be disappointed if it doesn't occur. 8 win season may be more realistic.

I don't understand why you pour the hate-or-ade on Miles. Last year was a miracle season. Sure, a lot of that was QB, but no one came further in the last 2 years than Ga State.

He's earned a couple of years. Let the man coach. He seems to be reasonably good at it.

Unless Georgia State is willing to severely over pay for a coach! I'm talking about 1.5 million a season for a respectable coach to put his reputation on the line for a University who hasn't existed long.

I guess Willie Fritz could be persuaded to coach Georgia State for the right price!

You do get that he found a way to win 6 games instead of 9 , right?

I am going to gather that you meant a football team and not a university since we have existed for 103 years. Why again would we be overpaying again? You come here and you get to recruit Atlanta high schools within a 15 minute drive, you get Turner Field and you get a motivated administration and fan base. I don't get your point. As for getting a couple of years, he contractually has a couple of years. The reality is lets face it, he doesn't like where he is at. So I am fine with thanking him for his service and moving on after this season. This is never going to be the guy to sell your program. He found a way to turn 9 wins into 6 somehow. He found a way to take a bowl season, a new football weight room and Turner Field and turn it into recruiting 123rd nationally and 9th in the last place FBS conference and mind you his recruiting ground is Atlanta!

One could argue he took a team that should only have won 3 maybe 4 games last season and won 6 albeit a very "strange" six (which is likely frustrating for GA St fans).

You are looking at the wins late in the year and projecting those performances on the early games against inferior opponents compared to the later ones (i.e. UNCC vs. GS).

That isn't how football works. In 2014 App lost to Liberty and beat Ark St. and ULL, we were a much better TEAM the back half of the year. Would we have beaten Liberty at the end of 2014, probably, would GA St. have beaten UNCC at the end of 2015, probably.

Miles was given a dumpster fire and started turning around the program mid-season 2015. We've had this conversation many times, it takes time.

Now perhaps 6 wins is Miles ceiling at GA St., next year will once again be very important for him. I think 6 wins again with a better showing in the bowl game allows him to finish out his contract, but Cobb will want more than 6 by 2017. I know it's hard to be patient.

RE: Sunbelt 2016 Football Schedules, and Record Prediction?
Mo you cant argue that. He lost to Charlotte and Liberty which is inexcusable. He lost to ULL with the game in hand. Now I will agree with this the statement that perhaps 6 wins is his ceiling. But I think to discount GSU's advantages is ridiculous. I might feel differently if he had CRH's or Coach Frady's attitude. Those guys are all in and happy to be at GSU. I told someone in early January after seeing a video of speaking along with other coaches past and present that he tends to use the article "they" a whole hell of a lot to refer to GSU. Curry STILL says "we". I just cannot reconcile his average coaching and his needing to be somewhere that is not Atlanta, the South and GSU. And like I said, this staff in Atlanta high schools is doing a piss poor job. Perception means a lot and you cannot sell a product you yourself do not believe in. And trust me, if he had not beaten GS, won 6 and been named SBC coach of the year we would not be having this conversation.

RE: Sunbelt 2016 Football Schedules, and Record Prediction?
Toledo- I expect we will win this one at home.
@Auburn- Loss but potential to be a decent game.
UCA- Win
@Utah State- This one is a toss up.

I don't recall where we play GaSo or Troy and we drop App and Idaho I believe?

I think we beat ULM, ULL, Ga St., Texas State, NMST, USA and Troy. GaSo is the big one on the schedule obviously. If we get them at home and they have a new coach we stand a solid shot.

I think we win 9 or 10 games. Of course, that hinges largely on the QB position and injury but we have a good competition brewing between a 4 star transfer, a guy who has played a little and will be a RS SO and a very talented couple of FR.

RE: Sunbelt 2016 Football Schedules, and Record Prediction?
I need to see more positives out of Miles this year before I'll agree the program is in goods hands and moving up in the SBC. Last year was a strange season for GSU, first 6 ball games they were awful, one of the worst in the FBS, and Miles didn't look like he knew what he was doing, and I think he was on the verge of losing the team. Then, out of the blue, everything started to click, players responded to his coaching, great game plans, finally, he looked like he knew what he was doing on the sideline, and actually seemed to have a plan. I think the expectations this year is a quick start, finish somewhere in the middle of the SBC, and perhaps another bowl. I know one thing, I normally could care less about GS vs GSU, but after lasts years upset, that's one game I'll make sure I watch.

Again, if you're getting better, don't complain.
Quite frankly, Ga State wasn't credible as a FCS program when he arrived.
Next year, Ga State has to replace some impact players.
Either way, if I'm Ga State, I wouldn't be complaining. Maybe if they lost to Liberty and UNCC at the end of the year.

For the most part we aren't. We aren't about to throw him a parade either. There is still some proving to be done.

Quite frankly, I don't have Miles on even a warm seat.

Moving past Warm to possibly hot

1) ULL - Hud has overseen great things with facilities, but he makes a lot of money. And things seem to be heading south there. Expectations are higher with a million dollar salary. 4 wins might get him tossed. 6 wins might get him in trouble as well.

Warm seat

2) NMSU - Martin's team is better, but this is his 4th year. They need to win - now.
3) Idaho - Petrino's team is better, but this is his 4th year. They also return Linehan at QB.

Lukewarm seat

4) USA - People are pretty much happy with Jones. But another rough schedule looms and he's never been able to get the team over the hump. I doubt he goes anywhere this year even if the record is a losing one, but he's no longer rock solid safe

No one else has a warm or even remotely warm seat this year. stAte and App should be happy. Georgia Southern, Texas State, and ULM have new coaches. Troy is on year two of a rebuild. Georgia State is also in rebuild mode but is no longer a laughingstock. Barring a 2 win or less season next year, Miles should be fine (although a losing record would make his seat hot next year).

Really oddly not personal. He really is an average coach. He really does not understand Atlanta or the South. And he really does not want to be here. Oh yeah and he really did lose 3 games he should not have. Personal would be to say I hate Trent Miles which I do not.
