You're right, that's pretty delusional.

The problem is if Ga Southern continues to beat teams like Florida and can beat GT and NCSU like we should have last year, the argument that the SBC is beneath them holds no water. At that point it is looked at as weakness if you won't schedule a team that is beating Florida, ncsu and GT because you want people to believe you are better than them. Instead you are pulling out nail biters with Akron and Eastern Michigan.

Do they really have more games scheduled vs the MAC or AAC?

App has seven series on future schedules, 1 ACC, 1 MAC, 1 MWC, 1 Indy, 3 CUSA. So we won't be calling them out anytime.

I can state with unwavering confidence that Texas State's AD will NOT be saying anything like that.

In fact, I will be surprised if we hear anything from him regarding anything until the next time someone shoves a microphone in front of his mouth during a game.

We have scheduled home and home games with Louisiana Tech and USM. We had one scheduled with UAB. We have played UTSA in a series. We played Tulane as a member of CUSA.

USA doesn't seem to have a problem scheduling CUSA teams. Its possible, seeing as Arkansas State is complaining, that the school in question that refuses to schedule Sun Belt schools is MTSU. Or WKU. Or UNT. Who knows.

Charlotte - Georgia State and App State
Old Dominion - App State and the end of an existing deal with Idaho

Marshall - none.
Rice - none.
UTSA - Texas State
UNT - none.
La Tech - USA and the end of an existing deal with ULL
USM - USA and Troy
UTEP - NMSU

I do see a pattern. It seems as though the former Sun Belt teams don't have any games scheduled with any of their former teams.

App finishes with Southern Miss in Boone in 2018.

Our intention is to skull drag your azz and everybody else's azz all over the field. Ya'll make nice at USA if you wish.

We aren't talking about on the field. We're talking about basic courtesy outside the stadiums. It costs nothing to be courteous.

At some point you're going to point out that all of your hard work isn't paying off due to circumstances out of your control. Making statements pointing that out may bring more apprehension but it's not because someones not being nice. If perception is everything then hopefully in time the image will bring better competition.

For those that follow the SB most of the conference play was competitive but when your AD sais they just beat Florida and took NC state and G tech to the wire and ran the conference with only one egg it "sounds" like you'd be an idiot to schedule this peer university. We need to schedule ambitious universities but that's not going to happen until the image is solidly a positive from a marketing standpoint. We're not there yet.

Hard to gauge since a large segment of CUSA was in the SBC during that time.

Does.Not.Matter

We play the games that are dealt us regardless of what conference we might or might not be a member of at some future date.

And having said that, I can GUARANTEE that the SunBelt is stronger today with Georgia Southern and App State than it was with the UNTs and the F_Us.

UNT- Sun Belt Champs in 2001, 2002, and 2003
FAU- Sun Belt Champs in 2007
FIU- Sun Belt Champs in 2010

In 5 of the 14 years that the SBC has been in existence, one of these three schools won the football championship. That's not too shabby if you ask me.

I do agree that Georgia Southern and App St were both excellent additions to the SBC. There's really no other school out there that the SBC could add that would match those two.

Unt winning in basically a I-aa sun belt in 01,02,03 has about as much relevance today as saying Tulane won the SEC in '32 and somehow that makes the AAC good today.

Unt was a disaster of GaSt proportions last year. Try harder.

I'm sure ULL, Ark St, and Troy fans would disagree with you about that, as do I, but how in the world can a GSU fan like yourself disrespect all of I-aa football the way you just did? For years we've all been bombarded with stories about GSU's exploits at the I-aa level. Now I-aa is totally irrelevant in the world of college football?

RE: Sun Belt ADs calling out CUSA for avoiding tough games
CUSA's strategy of a scheduling alliance with the MAC will come back to bite them. The SBC will get much better and the MAC will flounder around for the most part. Scheduling against a conference that in 2013 was rated behind FCS conferences will hurt them getting the G5 auto bid. Avoiding the SBC will not work as GS, UL,ArkSt,App,TxSt will be getting better and the media will notice as the P5 upsets occur.

Our AD has gone on record. If and when we are in close contention with a CUSA school for the G5 bid, our AD will fire up the PR machine. "Three years ago we called all of the top G5 teams to schedule a game letting them know we would play anytime, anywhere. We called Marshall on 10 different occasions, but they wanted no part of playing us. Meanwhile they scheduled games with Akron and Ohio."

You are correct BR, not too shabby at all. And yet those fan bases, once they were in CUSA, whizz all over the SunBelt claiming the Belt somehow held them back. Well, what have they done lately?

Friggin´ ungrateful UNTs went to 3 or 4 bowl games with the SunBelt, the turds.

I think there are a lot more UNT fans that respect the Sun Belt than there are that don't. They just don't talk as much. I respect the SBC. Anyone who doesn't just needs to look at OOC records over the last few years. I know there are some very good teams in the SBC every single year. I also know that the tide ebbs and flows, and that nobody stays on top of any conference forever. A school that's struggling right now will be handing your team it's rear end on a platter one day. No Sun Belt team will ever sneak up on La Tech. We know better. I totally expect to see the Cajuns play a great game this year in Ruston. I was a freshman at Tech in 1977, a year that Tech and USL fought it out in Ruston and ended up in a tie. I think it was 14-14. It was a dog fight the whole game. We all left the stadium totally exhausted. I expect to see a repeat of something like that game this year.

We had Charlotte on the schedule for either 14/15 or 15/16 (can't remember which) but they got out of it pretty quick. Guess they didn't want any part of it.

Apparently you don't deal with many P5 fan bases 'cause courtesy ain't their strong suit. If you want to be passive and timid and try not to hurt peoples feelings go right ahead. Fresno St called out teams for years and would play anyone anytime anywhere. They were praised for being bold and courageous. They didn't get ridiculed especially by their own conference mates.

CUSA teams not only are ducking the top SBC teams for fear of losing, they are paying us not to play them. Charlotte recently cancelled the series with Ga Southern for fear of getting 100 laid on them.

How can CUSA claim to be a respectable conference when they duck other G5 conference champs to schedule teams like Akron?

In general, it's the squeaky wheels that get noticed and therefore brand the entire fanbase as such.

It's the nature of the internet. Someone has a signature similar to that sentiment on this very board.

With a significant portion of the teams that gave C-USA their national reputation now gone, and with a significant number of new members being SunBelt retreads, there can be no doubt that the difference between our two conferences is as small as it has ever been and will likely fluctuate, favoring one or the other from year to year.

My recommendation to you Ga Southern fans though is one of caution. You may be gang busters again this year in football, or maybe not. If not, that is going to make for a really hard fall.

How can CUSA claim to be a respectable conference when they duck other G5 conference champs to schedule teams like Akron?

With a significant portion of the teams that gave C-USA their national reputation now gone, and with a significant number of new members being SunBelt retreads, there can be no doubt that the difference between our two conferences is as small as it has ever been and will likely fluctuate, favoring one or the other from year to year.

My recommendation to you Ga Southern fans though is one of caution. You may be gang busters again this year in football, or maybe not. If not, that is going to make for a really hard fall.

With key starters returning, 22 more scholarships available and a clear talent improvement in recruiting it's hard to imagine we will fall off significantly. And when you can run the ball well, that will at least keep you in most games.
