Big 12 - takes Cincinnati and Memphis (yes, I know Memphis football isn't great, but would they beat Iowa State? besides, the basketball would be outstanding)
AAC - takes Rice and UTSA plus maybe a Northern Illinois, in order to create a 12 member league (UConn and Temple might feel like they are on an island, so I would think that there is even a possibility of the AAC taking 5)
CUSA - slim pickings at this point. No MAC team will make the jump, same for the MWC. Which leaves the Sun Belt. Louisiana and Arkansas State are my best guess.
Sun Belt - Prepare for at least a couple of move-ups (if not 4 to insulate it from its own demise).
MAC - loses Northern Illinois. Doesn't matter, that would bring them down to 12, no movement (if UMASS stays)
MWC - should stay the same (outside shot of UTEP and TxSt getting invite at same time)
SEC - stays the same
PAC 12 - stays the same
ACC - stays the same
Big 10 - stays the same

At least I can enjoy my Shiner Holiday Cheer and hope the Big 12 starts the process. A toast to everyone!

Maybe. Heres mine:

Big 12- Takes Colorado St and Cincinnati or UCONN. Memphis doesnt have the football or academics.

AAC- Takes maybe Old Dominion? They wont take Rice because they already have a Houston school and UH will not allow it. UTSA is possible but I dont think UH and SMU lets that happen too. Who the AAC takes will be interesting but they dont have to take anyone with Navy coming in, they will be sitting at 12. So I think they stay put. No movement.

CUSA They are losing UAB. I think they take South Alabama or ULL.

Sun Belt With CUSA stealing one we need two. We pick up UMASS and a FCS move-up.

MWC Will need one losing CSU. Picks up BYU or a FCS move up like Montana St or NDST.

Why the hell would the MW take an FCS move up, that's what the Sun Belt exists for . .

Yea both those programs would come in and hold their own in any G5 conference.

No. That was just my opinion about the UAB deal. I thought it was going to turn out just like the Tulane deal did, with alumni coming to the rescue with big donations. I didn't realize just how badly the Tide intends to have it ALL in Alabama. As far as my usually reliable source, this person is involved in sports media and is usually ahead of most breaking stories, but I think that maybe this time the person spoke too soon. I think this Big 12 playoff debacle is going to completely change everything. I think The Big 12 will add two and get the dominoes falling again. Gonna get crazy very soon.
Or the NCAA allows a championship game for leagues with 10 or more members and you all are wrong.

The Big 12 is the only P5 with fewer than 12 members, why should the NCAA make an exception just for them? The more likely scenario is the Big 12 adds 2 members, just my opinion
Because their the NCAA. Nuff said.

You've forgotten already? We claim Memphis. You can see Graceland from the top of Centennial Bank Stadium04-cheers

You can't see Graceland but there is a helluva lot of money spent in the Memphis TV market by AState fans making the 11 mile drive to the liquor store. 04-cheers

RE: So which school calls CUSA first?
I would be VERY surprised if Big XII and ACC get their championship legislation passed.

Back in the summer it was seen as non-controversial and was expected to fly through.

The Pac-12, SEC, and Big 10 (ESPECIALLY THE BIG 10) now have zero reason to help them get a title game. If the rule had existed this year Baylor and TCU would have played again and the winner's resume would have bumped Ohio State. Likewise if ACC could do things they way they want, they would pit their two highest teams so they wouldn't risk playing a weaker division winner that could hurt their SOS.

wrong.

The other problem facing the best Sun Belt candidates for CUSA expansion is that we have only lost UAB. We only need twelve to hold a Championship. We have 13. So, unless AAC takes a Big Bite, may be no new Teams coming in. Otherwise, There is a chance that Louisiana or Arky State might be in the mix. Think we are at least 2-3 years away, depending on TV Contract.

How can we have "the other" problem when you havent addressed your supposed "original problem? La Tech blocking our entry. That will not happen and whomever told you that is a ******* idiot. Is this just your imagination, because you assume you know stuff?

It's difficult for anyone to really understand why LaTech would want the Cajuns in their conference. I realize you guys say there is some arcane Louisiana political element that would make them want you in. Not saying it doesn't exist....but it just doesn't make much sense to the rest of the world.

That would be a totally stupid move by CUSA and I can't think of anything that would get WKU, MTSU, ODU, Marshall, Charlotte, FIU or FAU to vote for it

As for the Western schools other than UTEP....the closes school is UTSA at almost 600 miles UNT almost 700 miles away Rice 800, Smiss almost 1200

Then what do they bring? S.Miss, Marshall, FIU, FAU are football first schools and S. Miss is a school that can't afford a extra 100k just to travel there when you have bus trips with USA and UL-L.

I will be shocked to see NMST replace UAB

Dude, La Tech fans will sell their souls if it keeps them in a league with no other Louisiana schools. Same goes for USM and South Al.

Never understood all the issues between schools in Louisiana. Have a good friend at McNeese who says it borders on the ridiculous.

Dude, your friend at McNeese need look no further than his own school to find where most of the dissension stems from. The ultimate in small cokx syndrome in LC.

Z

Dude, I was only making an observation. Instead of explaining why the situation exists you made a crude remark about McNeese. How about enlightening me as to why, if you can be civil about it.

After getting snubbed by the playoff committee one would think the Big 12 Commish learned a costly lesson by having co-champs. If they expand I think Cincinnati and BYU are the most likely candidates. If so it has a minimal impact on the G5 conferences.

Not saying I disagree, but Virginia made an ultimatum that Virginia Tech be added to the ACC when they expanded with Virginia Tech, Boston College and Miami. Virginia is for lovers, though, so they may be an exception to the rule.

Big difference between wanting us in and voting for us, people do things all the time that they might not want to do but do it anyway for political reasons. I'll put it this way, it wouldn't be the last time we need latech's vote on something and they will need our vote at some point as well.... We are in the same system.

ACC deal was pretty cool.

They went into the expansion vote with three votes needed to block expansion and everyone knew UNC and Duke would vote against expansion. The plan was to add Miami, Syracuse and Boston College.

The governor of Virginia called the UVA president and told him he could not vote for any expansion that did not include Va Tech.

So after much wrangling they voted to take Miami and Va.Tech but vapor locked over Syracuse and BC and it took nearly a year to make up their mind to take BC.

Because the CCG deregulation is desired by the ACC too so that it can put two teams from the same division into the championship game. The SEC may be interested in that loophole as well.

I have no idea about the likelihood of it passing, but it would make things easier for the SBC and potential quash a lot of movement.

I CERTAINLY HOPE NOT!!

I DON'T WANT ANY PART OF THE CUSA!

I love the potential of the Sun Belt as long as the current teams stay in the Conference.

Most of the teams have good football tradition and potential to be even better. South Alabama may not have a long tradition but I think their potential is very high! That school in Atlanta should have high potential considering they may be in the best concentration of high school football in the country but I would not hold my breath they will ever have a good team!

Except for an obvious 1 or 2 teams I think the geography footprint is good.

If the Sun Belt wants to expand its footprint I would call North Dakota State and Montana tomorrow. For those who don't know they would be competitive the moment they became. Unfortunately, there are too far out of the Sun Belt footprint.
