•Remember you got the cover of ESPN magazine stating that the new Panther team was born and how you were part of the BIG 3 in Georgia along with UGA & GT. I mean that’s something Southern never had.
•You have your own beat writer in the AJC. Not since ERK has the AJC covered RGSU.
•You have “The Dome” to play in & as a recruiting tool.
•You are in the largest media market in the South East.
•You had Bill Curry a true HC and a handpicked top notch coaching staff.
•With the above 5 points you were going to make Georgia Southern irrelevant in the state of Georgia.
•Southern is “delusional” & wouldn’t be picked up by an FBS conference because of our media market and a conference wouldn’t have anything to gain by picking use up.
•Georgia State can out recruit Southern because who would want to play for a Podunk team in SE Georgia.
•When you first started in FBS G-State you wanted a game with RGSU to prove that Southern couldn’t beat a FBS Georgia State and we were afraid to schedule one.
•You would be putting more fans in the seats than Southern could in their little FCS stadium.

Surprised GaSo didn't just close down their football program when they heard all those "facts".

I'll tell you, we were pretty close. How we keep getting recruits and winning games is this centuries greatest unsolved mystery.

For Real GoApps70. I shiver in the face of FGSU greatness.

This is getting to be the equivalent thing to showing pictures of your children to anyone who passes you by and saying, well, I am proud parent. But please go on. Who here has a kid named Erk? I know one of you have to have one.

I'm just going to steer clear of these threads for the next two weeks because I know we've got a particular forum or two on our board (recently revived of course) that has well over a hundred pages of posts of Ga State fans from 2-3 years ago rubbing their invite into the FBS in our face and telling us we'd never amount to anything.

Maybe it was because when we finally got football, all we heard was we would never be as great as Southern, and it would be a cold day in hell if State got an FBS invite before Southern. It could have had something to do with that.
In all honesty, I knew nothing about Ga State football until I saw us getting attacked on AGS and on our own board. I have no idea who started it, but I know there was a lot of wild stuff being posted by SaintDK10, panama, and Hammer22 back in the 2010 timeframe.

Saint is nowhere to be found after taking his ball and running home. panama had reality hit him like a ton of bricks here recently it seems. Hammer (or Nice I should call him I guess) doesn't really speak much either. However, the hate fire they poured gas on still rages strong.

AHHH the early days 03-old

RE: A head start on the GS/Gag St. game
Quote:See posts like this actually prove what I am trying to convey, which is that much like its fans, Georgia Southern is an outdated relic of college football past, unable to understand and adapt to the changing landscape of college football.

Quote: But things have changed drastically. The days of adding a team for the sake of geographic footprint alone are over. For better or for worse, college football is dominated by TV contracts, and in this new model, Georgia Southern and its six flags on the pole are simply obsolete and irrelevant. And that is what Southern fans have trouble understanding.

Quote:The fact of the matter is, Southern was relevant back in the day when college football wasn't as competitive as it is today, so they could easily get leftover Georgia athletes since there were only two FBS programs in the state. But again, those days are over. If there ever was a window for Southern to move up, it was back then, but as we all know, they couldn't then for the same reason they can't now: money. But now, even if they had money by some miracle, their lack of TV market automatically disqualifies them.

Quote:The good news for Southern is that in a few years, they will probably come to the Dome as a tune-up game for GSU, and get some coin in their pocket for the beatdown. And in all honesty, I don't think that will be a bad deal for them. It gives their alumni a chance to see what a world class facility looks like, and perhaps helps them in recruiting some FCS level talent around Atlanta, which there is certainly plenty of.

We all have our place in the food chain, and Southern simply needs to accept theirs, because FBS football is not it. Just being honest here.

And that was all from 1 post.

My, how the Georgia Taint Punter fans shrivel in the face of all the BS they spewed for years. They brought every bit of this mud slide upon themselves. Don't run your mouths about how great you're going to be and how much Georgia Southern sucks if you aren't prepared to have it all crammed back down your throats once your moronic statements are proven false.

RE: A head start on the GS/Gag St. game
I know but... I am not going to dig through all pages, but it was basically 5... 5 posters that turned fans of an opposing program on their ear smack talking. And it wasn't even 5 until the GayStates and such came out. Y'all better be glad we only have 5 outspoken posters. If we had more there wouldn't be enough bandwidth to hold up the smack between the fan bases.

And are these like placed marked or something? I mean really. Move on. It is 2014. Sit down. Talk to somebody. It isn't healthy. If you don't get help at Charter, get help somewhere.

Good thing. Because I guess that is all it takes. 5 is all it took to get football. 5 is all it took for us to get moved into FBS. Which... you should be thanking your stars that we moved up. You want to talk about a seismic event in Southern's football history was the day State moved up. Baker's seat was at an all time high temperature on that day, and you can thank those 5 for it.

Oh, and it wasn't just 5 posters. Every Taint poster I've ever seen insisted that their obviously inflated attendance numbers were accurate and anyone who said they were inflated was an idiot. You guys were (and still are) so delusional, I can't even describe it. Your boys over on the PantherFlop said Southern fans were morons for calling your fans out when every single one of them predicted a win over Arkansas State. Your moderators said that stAte fans were delusional for predicting a 24 point win over the Punters. How did that turn out? They said that Eagle fans predicting a win over NC State and GT (which nearly happened in both cases) was as delusional as Punter fans expecting to hang within 14 points of stAte. How are you guys so insane? Do you really not recognize that you are the worst program in the country? Will any of you ever sack up and eat the massive plate of crow you spent years accumulating?
