Kidd Brewer looks impressive from a birds eye view, but up close and personal - it isn't what it appears to be. You guys have done a nice job creating seats on the guest side in a hurry and you have built good fan support (home side looks like it is much nicer but I haven't been over to that side). I've been in your upper deck - ours will not be an erector set of shaky aluminum with absolutely no leg room. Feels like you are sitting in a "proper" English class room.. "knees together - back straight!" . Last time I was up there, I caught a cramp in my leg and had to just throw my leg over the seat in front of me between two people. All I could do was apologize - but it that situation you will do anything to relieve the pain.

On par? We are on the path to catch up, but we wont stop there. When Paulson is done - the concrete/brick construction will far exceed "The Rock" in style, comfort. We just need to get the upper deck on the home side going ASAP once these three expansions are completed.

Well, one wouldn't think a Georgia Southern alum would be comfortable sitting in a "proper English classroom". 05-stirthepot05-stirthepot05-stirthepot

I think they are mostly just removing the concourse from that endzone right now.

Haha, yeah it will be much more interesting once they start loading in construction materials. Prepping the land is always a snooze.

Yeah I know. Stadium expansion is the best for off season discussion. Once the support piles are driven, its really fun to watch. We've had construction for two of the last three off seasons and I loved it.

And considering that they're going to put construction on hold during the season, that gives them only 2 months to put in work before its shut down for the next 3 months. It's gonna look like very little has been done until December. That's when this will really start to take off.

I wonder where they are hauling all that dirt off to. Those trucks seem like they are on about a 15 minute rotation, so they cant be taking that dirt very far.

Well, at least they're busy doing something. Did I miss it, or did someone already post what the seating capacity will be when completed?

Officially it will be just over 24k. Currently we are at 18K, but we have had crowds as large as 25k+ (lots of "seating" in the grass behind the endzones).

That depends on how you count seats... The stadium currently only has 14,000 permanent seats, but they list our capacity at 18,000 because of the hills. Average attendance is between 20k to 21k. (Sun Belt teams travel much more than SoCon teams so I would assume that should automatically boost our average attendance at least 1,000 people)

The expansion will add roughly 6,200 permanent seats, bringing the official capacity to around 21,000, but the listed capacity to around 24,500.

So if attendance keeps climbing over the next 5 years, I would expect us to either bowl in the endzone where our Bishop fieldhouse currently sits, or add a second deck and new pressbox to the South side seats.

The dirt is being used to flatten the land behind the concession stands.

Very interesting. Now why would they do that? Add more flat surface area for the base of the second deck?

Either to give support for the new deck or more flat area to expand the concession stand, which is also part of the project.

Thats interesting, I thought I saw those trucks circling around, but I couldn't tell from that far away if they were the same ones.

Probably a little bit of both.
