Dayton Pregame Recommendations
Anyone have any recommendations for pregame in Dayton? Are there good spots within walking distance of the arena? I figured some of you Western fans or anyone else that's been may have some tips or direction for my first time.

If I recall, there is nothing really around the arena. We did a pre-game at the hotel.

one of our alumni hooked us all up for a pre-game at an irish pub. pretty sure it was 'flanagans pub'

good pub fare....fish and chips...burgers....plenty of beers if you like.

go if you can to the game. great times. i took both adult sons. we had a blast.

Dayton was fun, but the arena is alone right off the interstate...Their are a couple of hotels by arena, but that is it...Downtown is about a 10 min. drive from arena...Dayton is a very good colllege basketball town...The locals really come out and support these games....

RE: Dayton Pregame Recommendations
Get your tickets before hand Dayton fans will take up at the very least 1/2 the seats they support this event and there will be a ton of Ohio St fans also. If you want lower level seats your best bet is to call the ticket office at Dayton. It will be about 25 degrees hotter at the top (where most muts fans will be) than the lower bowl. It's fun sitting with other fans but I'm glad my son wanted to sit in the lower bowl so we got tickets from the Dayton ticket office.

Also if it's like last year you will have to buy both nights on ticket master so don't go that route...again Dayton ticket office will sell you single night tickets. Expect long lines to get your tickets at will call. Again Dayton fans are passionate about college basketball and there's tons of history in the Dayton arena...

I'm about 75% sure my son and I will make the trip up to Dayton and as painful as it will be I guess we will be pulling for the muts....not just can't do it. Very good experience and just as much of a NCAA feel as it will be if the muts win and moves on.

As a Cincinnati native, let me recommend lunch at one of the chili parlors called Gold Star or Skyline. Just thought of Cincinnati chili has me hungry here in Houston.

If you bump into any Liberty folks, we're friendly people. Honest.

Just a heads up for those of you driving. Please try and time it so you avoid Cincinnati during rush hour (4:30 to 6). I-75 through the city is being rebuilt and expanded. So be prepared for orange barrels as soon as you cross the Ohio River.

Cincidave is right. You may want to consider going 275 around the city if you hit rush hour. As far as tickets go I would check craigslist. I got 4 lower tickets and a parking pass for $200. The above posters are also right about the Dayton natives support this game. I've seen tickets anywhere between $200 down to face value. Liberty alumni are having a pre-game get together at a place called Milanos. If you're in town stop by and say hello.
