2012 OL Recruit Dustin Adams Transfering
Adams plans to transfer from NIU in an effort to change his major from business management to engineering. The school located an hour from Chicago doesn't offer his newly-desired pursuit.

North Dakota State and University of North Dakota have piqued his interest, but he hasn't ruled out continuing his career at a Football Bowl Subdivision program. He'd lose a year of eligibility due to NCAA transfer rules but would be eligible immediately at a Football Championship Subdivision program if he opted to go that route.

I really don't understand this. NIU has a pretty good engineering program. I highly doubt he is leaving because Doeren left, because I'm pretty sure Rod Carey recruited Dustin Adams. The only thing I can see him transferring for is playing time.

Just read the article. Seems like a class guy - very positive on the experience at NIU. Definitely wish him the best of luck!!

NIU offers mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering...if he is looking for something like nuclear or petroleum, or anything other than what NIU offers then it makes sense.

That's too bad. Best of luck to him. We make a big deal about our football players being actual students at the school, so when one decides to transfer due to academic reasons it would be hypocritical to assume it's a smokescreen that actually has to do with football.

Better to know now and have the extra scholarship to use before signing day.

Good luck, Dustin.

When they worked the freshman O-line in fall camp they had Levon Myers, Dustin Adams, Scott Taylor, Ron Brown and Josh Ruka lined up left to right. Imagine if they put Brad Steger in Adams's spot now. That would be one big O-line.

Think about that. Those guys are going to be fighting the current O-line for playing time for three years.

Don't look back. Somebody may be gainin' on ya.

That's probably why Doeren was recruiting one Olineman for this class. Also have to wonder if Kyle Meadows, who purportedly was our top remaining oline recruit but said no to us early in the summer, is reconsidering his no.

Myers sat next to us during the MACC. He's a big boy and very lean.

Talking to Coach Carey on signing day last year, I remarked that Myers has the frame to add 60 lbs. Carey's response was, "You wouldn't even notice that."

60lbs would put him at 320 (assuming he was really 260 when he signed his LOI) ...With room for more.

If I were to guess, given that he is looking at N Dakota schools, he is probably going the petroleum route.

Cawoo... IMO we will have 1 starter beat out next year and maybe 2. We have the transfer from Tulane and Logan Peagram (6th year?) pushing hard and that FR class.... Spring ball could be a WAR....

I don't see Volk or Loos if he's healthy losing a job, not really Brown either but I haven't seen these young guys play.

Ness isn't losing the center spot either.

Only member of last year's class that I could see pushing for playing time next year is Scott Taylor, who could possibly give Conlon and Pitt a run at RG.

If Loos is healthy, Myers isn't going to beat him for LT because Loos was our best OL this year. Volk isn't going to be challenged at LG. Neither will Ness at C or Ryan Brown/Matt Krempel at RT.

He's done an excellent job as well. Who are the studs that people think are gonna overtake a job.

They played 8 guys at o-line this year and could rotate 9 or 10 next year. I noticed in Coach Carey's remarks on the HuskieWire that he doesn't think Pegram will be granted a 6th year.
