RE: Interesting Diversion
As someone already mentioned, the Huskies owe a little debt of grattitude to The Ohio State.

First, tOSU, took themselves out of the running for a BCS bowl spot, thus leaving a spot open for the Huskies. Then tOSU went on to win all of their games, which may have kept another B1G team (like maybe Michigan, Wisconsin or Nebraska) from getting selected to the Orange Bowl.

The second part is just speculation, and the Huskies probably would have still gone Orange Bowling if tOSU went 0-12, but tOSU did all they could to help.

Huskie_Jon, as someone indicated before, Ohio State being ineligible had no effect on us. We finished ahead of Big East champion Louisville in the rankings and placed in the top 16 so we were going to a BCS bowl regardless.

If anything, Ohio State would have pushed another BCS at-large team, Florida or Oregon, out of a BCS bowl.

That's not true. If Ohio State was elligible they bump us down to at least 16th, and they also would have playing Nebraska in the Big Ten Championship instead of Wisconsin and the main reason NIU jumped Nebraska is because they got dome rocked by a 5 loss team. It had a huge effect.
