Just got off the NIU Board and.....
it suddenly hit me, who the guys are that are bitching the most. They have to be younger NIU guys or WMU guys or CMU guys, etc., because they don't yet know that the MAC, is what it is, the MAC.. I think us older grads understand that we will never be asked to join the Big 10, Big East or where ever. At this point theres no reason to sweat the small stuff.........Lastly,one great source of continued amusement is getting on the Kelly Snorts web page. I can't believe how many of these delusional chip fans thought they were in on a football dynasty for the ages... It's a friggin laugh track over there....... MAC dynasty's last as long as a Rothelsberger at Miami of O, or a Leftwich at Marshall, or a Lefevour at CMU have eligibilty. Of course, those idiots up north in hayseed junction have an on going issue with reality... Ya, gotta love it....Go Bronco's.....

The Chips have had their share of dynasties. Beginning in 1986 they had an amazing streak of mediocrity, where they had 13 losing seasons in that 20 year span. For those who piss and moan about WMU, in that same span, Western had 14 winning season.

Until the Lefevour era came along in 2006 CMU football wasn't much different than EMU football. They had a 12 year streak before 2006 that included season win totals of 4,5,2,6,4,2,3,4,3,4, and 6.

There biggest dellusion is that all of this can be cured by going to the spread. RR is not a spread QB, and they are lacking at receiver as well. Switching to the spread will not turn Cody Wilson into Antonio Brown, or RR into Fevour.

They truly believe that switching to AJ Westendorp at QB is the answer. AJ can run. True. Problem is he can't pass, so defenses will just sit on the run.

If you want a really laugh you should read the live chat with Drew Ellis.

Ellis continually throws up polls. This one floored me.

Who will win the MAC West

UT 88%
NIU 0%
WMU 0%
CMU 13% 03-lmfao03-lmfao

Apparently there are some expecting an amazing turn around.

It's a double edged sword. I'd bet if you did a poll, there would be a larger % of alums that are more interested in WMU sports after graduation that went to school when I did with the two MAC West titles, the home games vs. ranked Marshall and VT teams, a Thursday night ESPN game where Robert Sanford pounded the hell out of Marshall, then say, the ones who went here during a 4-5 year period with 3 losing seasons and maybe a 7-5 year. The CMU students that were there for the LeFevour years are probably going to always be more invested than their older compatriots that slummed through the DeBord years. They're also going to push harder for their school to return to that level, even after they accept it can't be permanent.

It's one thing to accept that your school isn't an elite football school. It's another entirely to care if your school is a crappy football school.

To add to my last post, the hockey team was in the Gove/Rymsha/Bishai days as well. They weren't good like last year's team, but they were exciting and early on, Culhane had a penchant for stealing a game from ranked teams at home each weekend, especially Michigan/Michigan State.

By comparison, WMU went to the NCAA tournament in basketball the spring before I started, and went 28-54 my first three years. Basketball is my third favorite sport at Western.

And the first game my freshman year was when we knocked off USC at home by about 20 points. I only missed a handful of basketball games over my 4 years in Kalamazoo.

Barely ever missed a football game, either... most were during the Jennings era.

Went to just about every hockey game the first two years, then started to go less and less. Just couldn't take the constant losing all season long.

Point being - you've got a point there... there's gotta be some correlation to how the teams were performing while we were students.

I haven't missed a home football game, including the Ford Field game (in my 4th year now). Been to ND, Michigan (twice), NIU, and CMU games on the road. Never seen us win on the road, oddly.

I manage to make about half the hockey games, though my job cuts into many of them. Got to go to the Joe and have been to Yost as well for the CCHA playoffs.

I've probably been to 10-15 basketball games total. I would go to more, but my girlfriend hates sports and I have to make a compromise somewhere, and that's my third favorite sport. Sorry, hoops Broncos.
