Was WKU's Rainey even in the game against UNT last year? Don't remember him doing anything significant. I could be wrong.

Looked it up. Dunbar with 215 yards; Rainey 100

Yeah Rainey had a bad game, shoot our whole team took the day off that day for some reason. :/

Dunbar and Rainey are both fantastic RB's, but I'm obviously going to be a homer and say Rainey is the better player. My logic? He was #1 in the nation in rushing yards for a week or two before Oregon played again. So that WINS!! hahaha :)

I feel bad for Alfred Morris, who I feel is just as good a back as these two. Hes been stuck behind a young Oline but still gets tough yardage.

I hope he has a great year and competes well against these two for the Sun Belt Rushing crown this year.

The common games between these two are the conference games... so lets see how they did:

Rainey had 237 more yards than Dunbar but had 53 more carries than Dunbar. Dunbar had a better yard per carry average, albeit a very modest one. If Dunbar's average of 4.73 yards per carry held true through 223 carries (the number that Rainey had) then Dunbar would have only rushed for 13 more yards than Rainey.

You make your own call as to who's best.

The bad part is neither gets much ink on the national scene. I have looked at various videos on Youtube of top backs coming into the season and not a one had either included. I guess they think they rack up the yards against SBC schools so they are not that good. The fact is the SBC has 2 of the top backs in the nation and since they don't play for BCS teams few notice. 03-shhhh

There is a player that you will all see this fall named Frankie Jackson. He was a RB at Capitol HS in Baton Rouge and was the #20 RB in the country. He redshirted last year after signing with ASU. He had offers to AZ St., ULL, ULM, and Utah but had some academic troubles that caused many schools to back off him. I do not remember our fans ever being so excited to see a player hit the field. The only comparable player I can think of is Jonathan Adams, a four-star RB, whose selection of ASU triggered quite a sh!tstorm in Arkansas.

Adams might have been a 4* RB, but he was also the 6th best RB in the nation per ESPN.

I'm pumped about Frankie - what vision!

If neither of those backs averaged 5 yards per carry versus Sun Belt defenses, I don't understand the hype.

Meh...Dunbar is the better of the two and I wouldn't consider him "one of the top backs in the nation"

Both are well above average, but neither are elite. I'll be surprised if either are drafted before the fourth round in next April's draft.
