Sound goofy, but I don't start Howard. Howard has shown himself to be solid off the bench. Instead start Dean. He's a match up problem for CMU and he can rebound. CMU normally goes with 4 guards. Don't match up with them, let them match up with you. Let them match up with 6'9, 6'9, 6'7". Hope some others can cover for him when he gets beat on switches, and see what happens. Loney cant replace Flen's points, Dean can. Show some faith, and see what happens.

Lastly, CMU is one of the worst in the league from three..............a great opportunity to throw up a zone (wont happen).

WMU should go to the NBA style offense...walk up the ball to get stainbrook in position...he will single handly dominate their pathetic big men...

I have faith in Dean. When there's no pressure on him (i.e. he's not watching for a sub at every stoppage of play) he's shown himself to be dangerous offensively. Defensively, he's long enough to make up for mistakes on D, and he can rebound. This is where Farmer steps in and says, "Hawk, let him play through the mistakes."

If you go with Dean you better have plan B in the ready. This game isnt one you cast to the wind.

I'm not sure how Dean's length makes up for anything on D.
Are you refering to possibly blocking shots? If so, blocks are so few and far between that they are much less meaningful than executing to begin with.

Caleb can certainly shoot well. But that isnt what is missing with Flen out. It's defense, toughness and rebounding.

Maybe you save Mo, go with Stain and sub in Caleb.

What do you think lets Hutch defend quicker 3's. He's long. Guys get by him and he can still altar shots. Doesn't have to block them. We don't have another legit post up 4.

Mo is the missing link Saturday, not Dean IMO. Saw his footwork, defense and rebounding the other day, he'll fill in fine, 15 minutes.

Hutch is becoming our lock down defender on the perimeter. Length helps but he has quickness to match most. His length is icing.

Dean on the other hand is similar to Whittington, easily pushed around inside. He also lacks the quicks AND execution to defend the pick and roll.

I definatly put in mo as the starter, it has been nice seeing how he has improved over the year. A big defensive presence and while he is not going to put huge numbers up on the offensive end he is capable of grabbing offensive rebound and putting em in the whole. When Stain gets tired put in the small set with howard and move mo to center. when mo gets tired get stain back in and then see what dean can do. I've seen that dean is capable of putting points on the board, but he has issuses on the d.... I hope he can resolve them over the summer because I'd like to see him develop into a solid backup for Flen for next year. I think he is capable of being that for the broncos he just has to step up.

Mo? He's a pure back to the basket center. He's never once played the 4. His range is a layup. Yeah, Mo 03-lmfao03-lmfao

Everything you said is true.... but if you read my statement I never said he could make anything other than a putback. I am not saying he should take over in a traditional 4 role, I am saying WMU should play with two 5s, really pack it in, shut down driving lanes for TZ, use the size advantage inside to clear the glass. Without Flen we won't win a shooting contest against the chips, to win this game we need to take their offence out of it as well. Grind the pace of the game way way down, take the chips out of rhythem, and Mo's the guy for that job, in my opinion.
Not that any of this matters because Hawk shares your myopic view of what a four needs to be, it'll be howard.

P.S No use arguing with me as I am both dumb and stubborn

I think Mo will have to have more minutes and be productive, NOT START and nobody said he was going to be lobbing up 15 ft jumpers. Think a little.

There are a ton of starting lineup possibilities. Actually, I don't think it is unrealistic to have Mo Conteh start in place of Flen. BroncoFaithful, don't let CD intimidate you. He throws a TON of stuff out there, much of it is great information. And some of it you have to just....um.....ignore.
Because of this thread I now have GOT to see who ends up starting this game for the Broncos.

What ever the starting lineup ends up being I look for CMU to put on a flopping clinic, especially with Stain.
I hope our coaches are preparing him for that possibility. If CMU can get inside his head and make him a little timid on offense it could be tough to get it going inside.

Stain-Hutch-Ward-Wolf-Douglas

starting wolf provides a little bit of energy that whitfield would have provided. Don't start MO...he needs to spell Conteh. and Howard should stay on bench so we dont miss a beat while our starters are resting.

RE: So, lineup minus Whitfield
Watched most of the second half of the BSU/CMU game. CMU could not handle the BSU guards off ball screens. On almost every trip Davies would either get a clean trip to the hole off a ball screen, or a clean look at a three. If MD can get in a zone like he was vs. BSU he could have a field day.

CMU struggles on the boards, so the absence of Whit may not be as noticeable. Chips also struggle out of a set offense. They like to rush the ball up and try to let their guards operate in space before the defense is set. BSU started applying pressure on the guards full court and that forced the Chips to run some sets..........not their thing.

Lastly, they are horrid from the line. If that holds up, I'd give fouls late in a close game.
