Guess you'll have to trust Hawkins to win some big games. Good luck with that. 03-lmfao

Rather have Hawkins than another 3 years of Ziegler just to keep his kid from transferring somewhere where they'll sniff .500 seasons. Good luck with that.

RE: MAC this weekend 2/26-27
On B5's "Drinking in college" thread, I mentioned how B5 sounded like a MAC east fan, condescending attitude and all.

His snarky reply was that at least east fans aren't afraid to tell the truth.

My reply - Sure the east division is stronger. No argument there.

However, when you hear Kent St. fans, as an example, talk about the contenders and leave out WMU after two very, very close escapes vs WMU in the last two head-to-head games, it tends to grate on you. Many of them don't acknowledge that there is very little that separates those two teams in terms of talent. The only major difference is that KSU has found a way to win most of their close games, including those against us.

Anybody who is honest knows that there are about 6 teams, maybe 7 with the talent to win in Cleveland;

(in no particular order)

Akron - hottest team right now. Dambrot knows how to coach and they've jelled now
Miami - Charlie ball, 'nuf said. Brutal OOC schedule, good MAC results
Kent St. - not as dominant as in the past but very solid and good
Buffalo - surprising rebuild by Witherspoon, quicker than expected
Western Michigan - Closing strong, had best record (3-3) vs east
Ball State - We'll find out Wednesday. Talented, but fared poorly vs east division.

Of course, Cleveland is a virtual home game for Kent and Akron. Most of the Ohio teams will have loads of fans there.

I'm from the East and I've given you guys plenty of respect.

The exact opposite, actually. Can't play defense, good offense that likes to push the tempo a bit.

I'm surprised you left out the team that looks dangerous right now in Ohio. Won 6 of 7, only loss is the two pointer to the Broncos at Kzoo. If nothing else the MAC tournament should be full of competitive games.

RE: MAC this weekend 2/26-27
I thought of including them, as they are playing better. They are still dangerous in any game. But looking closely at their results, I'm inclined to agree with you that they should be in my list of actual contenders.

When you look at their schedule/results, it is apparent that the Bobcats are playing much better of late. Akron started rather slowly this season but Ohio beat them at Akron in MAC game #2, 79-70. The rematch is tonight and an OU win could have major repercussions. OU will finish at Miami.

Since losing to WMU, OU has won 4 in a row - 3 of them on the road. They won at Buffalo, at Winthrop in OT (Bracketbuster), home against Bowling Green, and in OT at Kent State. Starting with EMU on Jan. 26, OU is 8-2 with their only losses at CMU and WMU.

Good point Doc - I took my eye off the ball. I knew that they were improved just was unaware of the details.
