I thought it was well-done and liked the message (even though not a fan of the Motor City) but I'm looking for yuks in Super Bowl ads.

RE: super bowl ads
To me it was a very ho-hum year for commercials.

As for that one........ sounds like somebody selling fantasy, IMO. I read that the commercial cost "less than $9 million." Great use of money from a company that got a bailout and whose CEO was recently carping about crappy terms of the fed bailout loan.

This one for Doritos was my fav.

The chrysler one was attention grabbing, though it didn't make me want to buy a Chrysler

I liked the down-and-out-but-not-beat-yet aspect of the Chrysler ad, but talk about shooting yourself in the foot with the Chrysler 200 vehicle model designation, especially when they were trying to associate it with luxury!

Everybody knows the Chrysler 300 is the luxury designation, why would you then promote the new model as a Chrysler 200? That is just wierd to me. Next they'll come out with the longer, lower, wider, Chrysler 115.

And as it turns out the Chrysler 200 isn't even a Chrysler, it's just a warmed over Sebring.

I'm with Hoople. I'm looking for laffs, not drama. (Granted, that Chrysler commercial was awesome.) I thought Doritos had the funniest commercials. I'm easy.......I liked the one where the guy had just finished his little bag of Doritos, told his buddy that they were all gone, but the buddy said that the best part still remained, and started licking his friend's orange fingers. BWAHAHAHAHA!!

This is pretty neat - all 61 ads from the SB in about 2 minutes...

^^^^ Ugg, that would make me puke.

Why do people detest commercials but when it comes to the Super Bowl they can't get enough advertising?

I dunno, and I'm guilty of it to an extent... I do enjoy some of the new commercials during the SB. I suppose it's because they're just another form of entertainment, even if they are promoting something.

All that said, I think WAY too many companies are trying too hard - every year they get less and less funny on average, imho.

I've gotta somewhat agree here. Go to any sports bar showing the game and people bust out laughing at commercials with the usual CGI monkeys, "talking" babies, dumb male rubes at bars, and cameos of has-beens (i.e. Joan Rivers). But if it was during any other time of year, people would quickly reach for their remotes.

I do get a kick out of some of the ads and find a chuckle here and there (the frantic Reply-All email ad got a good laugh out of me). But it seems that since people know the hefty price tag of it being on the Superbowl, there's something that boosts their appeal.

BTW, had to roll my eyes at the commercial of the guy - after a date - whose car immediately 'told' him what she wrote on Facebook. Really? This is supposed to be a good thing? I'll never understand the desire of needing to be insta-connected to everyone, everywhere, 24/7.

MB, Super Bowl ads haven't been targeted at us for a few years now!

Yep. Plus the fact it was the "best first date ever!" I've been on plenty of first dates in my life and can only think of a couple that weren't good to great. In fact, the best first date I ever went on never panned out.
