Just because the line is -4 doesn't mean people who actually watch college football thought Minnesota would win. It means there are a lot of uninformed Big 10 fans that are going to bet on the Big 10 team at home.

Yes everyone knows bookies make their money by charging juice....usually 10%. So by your logic one should always bet against the team with the larger fanbase?

Too early to tell. Prior to the CMU game, I had them down in the cellar with EMU and Akron. CMU may not be very good either but beating them on the road means they deserve a 2nd look.

I still have it as a predicted W on the schedule.

Last two wins were great, but I'm not totally convinced on this team yet.

Temple will end the season with a winning record. We suck against teams with winning records. If we win, then I will drink the kool aid.

I'd be shocked if they were.

Prairie, I'd hope you put more thought into it than that, but in games like Minnesota vs. NIU, if you didn't know a lot about the game, sure.

And CMU lost 13-10 at Temple in OT

Looking at the BSU / CMU box score, BSU ran for 300+ yards and picked off CMU 3 times. The week before they were held to 112 total yards in a 45-0 pasting by Iowa. And the week before that they were held to 256 total yards in a 24-13 loss at Purdue. And the week before that they lost to D1-AA Liberty, which appears to be a quality D1-AA team (Liberty has two close losses, one to James Madison who won at Va Tech).

All in all, it sounds like BSU is an inconsistent mediocre team who probably could beat us if they play a good game and we play a mediocre or bad game. But if we're on they won't be able to stay with us.

Huskies359.. today on the Score a bookie was interviewed, and he explained how the line has nothing to do with who they think will win, but getting bets evenly on both side.

I imagine they'll have a podcast you can check out.

Key to every season is playing to your highest level week to week no matter who is the opponent.

Easier said than done.

Yes I consider BSU a 'trap' game.
QUESTION: How many years did UT stumble in Muncie during their title years?
ANSWER: Often.

It's a well worn cliche but winning on the road in MAC is never a safe assumption.

A few yrs ago I was certain NIU would win in Philly. Talk about laying an egg and sleep walking vs an inferior opponent at the time.

We were supposed to lose at Minn, and Toledo was supposed to beat Wyoming at home. I believe we are ranked above Toledo at this point.

And Purdue was a 13.5 point favorite against Toledo, so what does that tell you? We don't know how good Wyoming is. I don't think they are very good. I think the reason Toledo lost is because of Toledo making mistake after mistake. We outplayed them and had just under 400 yards of total offense. But all that really matters is that we lost. And we play at Boise State next week, so Vegas isn't going to think much of Toledo for a while and it really doesn't mean anything.

I think we will get a pretty good indication of Toledo when they face Boise next week.

Im not saying Toledo is a good team, and I think NIU is going to beat them in Dekalb, but something about that Toledo/Boise St. game is sending a red flag to me, watch this game, it might be a little more interesting than expected.

I don't think Toledo will make it interesting at all. I don't think any MAC team would have much of a shot against Boise State. BSU has played two non-AQ conference teams so far this year, and they won those games by a combined score of 110-6. They beat Wyoming 51-6, and Wyoming just beat Toledo at the Glass Bowl.

I have to disagree, because we really don't know how good Temple is yet. Penn State appears to be a bit down this year, so keeping that game close is not a big deal. Beat UCONN doesn't mean a whole lot. UCONN only scored 10 points against Michigan, and Bowling Green scored 21 at Michigan with their backup QB (starter was out with an injury).

Especially with the MAC, anything can happen any given game. For instance Ball State dominating Central Michigan last week. Let's not forget that CMU took Temple to OT, and the game was at Temple.

NIU could go undefeated in the MAC if they beat Temple, but they could also lose to CMU, BSU, and/or Toledo. And it wouldn't be hard to envision a loss to any of those three.

Don't remind me. One year we came in there 8-0 and ranked 18th in the country. We lost 35-3, and I think Ball State only won 3 games all year.

BSU plays tough and dirty.
I would hate us to suffer a key injury in that game.

I agree, no MAC team would make it a battle vs. Boise State, especially with them gunning for style points.

This is a good point, with the schedule they play BSU can't simply win their games; they must more or less annihilate each opponent…can't ever let up on the throttle if they want to maintain their position in the polls.

RE: Remaining 7 Games
After Temple, BSU may be the most likely remaining team to go over 6 wins.
Toledo might as well, and CMU is unlikely due to the strength of their remaining schedule.
While beating Temple would be great, a win over BSU, Toledo and CMU would be more significant with regards to winning the MAC west.
Seems like BSU might have the easiest schedule of the three and with a win against CMU already, they just need to beat Toledo and NIU to go to Detroit.(Unlikely that Eastern and Western Michigan) will pose a serious challenge to them. (I hope I am incorrect on that assumption).

RE: Remaining 7 Games
What ususally proves true most MAC seasons is that the unexpected becomes reality.

Did anyone in the preseason seriously think Buffalo would win the MACC?
{Wasn't BSU with NateD 8 or 9-0 until the shoe dropped in MtP?}

Games considered safe are not.

Surprising outcomes each weekend are not uncommon.

Certain teams seem to have the number of certain other teams.

Some teams match up better or worse than with other teams.

YES, BSU game scares me just like do several others. You can never know with much certainty how the Huskies or any team will perform on a given day.
