Thanks to them & bless 'em ALL including a few who have been ragged on here occasionally.

Several big shoes for Kill to fill next season.

Will Kill go JUCO with as many as half the 20 schollies?

Possible but I don't think he needs to. Receivers and Dlineman would be the best bets.

Not sure that is a fair assessment. Navy played a great game.

Our D didn't play bad either.

...our coaches choked.

Our young QB made some mistakes, but that happens to every young QB in the land. The rest of the tema looked OK, it was just a very poorly run show. Run a play/stand around/waste more time/snap/repeat. That may fly in FCS, but up here you need every play you can get when you are trying to get in a bowl game.

Harnish was bad, there's no other way around it.

But Kill and his staff do what they have done best at SIU. They fail to perform in the biggest game of the season. This game really reminded me of SIU's game against Delaware in the I-AA semifinal last year. From the way Kill managed the timeouts to the terrible playcalling, it was the same thing I've seen too much. Let it be known that I love Jerry Kill, but Matthew Limegrover is one horse**** playcaller and the sooner he's gone, the better off NIU will be. There's no way NIU should have a grand total of 0 points against the Naval Academy.

Can't argue with that, I've been disappointed with the game management from the coaching staff this year.

RE: Sr. Night - Thank You
When we lost to Akron, this board went bitter.
I was grateful that we were in that situation playing in Detroit.
Once again, I am grateful that after a 2-10 season we were playing for a Bowl again.
Thank-you Seniors for not allowing 2 losing seasons in a row.

Thank-you for the excitement, and anticipation.
Thank-you fans for turning out in such large numbers despite the miserable weather.
NIU football is alive and well.
This was not 2003, however comparing 2008 to 2003 speaks volumes about this senior class, which had only 1 losing season and then bounced back so strongly, despite injuries.

Courage defines this senior class.
Sure we expected and wished for another game, but atleast this team went for TD's instead of settling for field goals. We were always 1 play away from a score that would have put us within reach.

Navy were tougher, more disciplined , made less mistakes, were extremely well coached and were a credit to Annapolis.
What a pleasure to see so many Naval serviceman in DeKalb. Hopefully they will be back.

To see the stadium over 2/3'd's full during the first half was very special. One of the better MAC turnouts given the freezing weather. In the 90's maybe 3000-5000 people might have been in the stadium. The students behaved very well and I think the servicemen were treated very well with the proper respect.
This was a great night for NIU football and next year we expect a winning season!

Of all the seniors, I think Mr. English is the only one I will truly miss not having next year. Hopefully this embarrassing performance on national TV (well classic) will give the returning guys something to be hungry about.

I agree. Unfortunately, Limegrover comes with the Kill package. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt this year because these are Joe's players. Let's see what happens when these coaches recruit their brand of player. If, after a year or two we see the same crap, then it's time to really complain. They need to do a lot of recruiting, so let's see what happens.

For me, the jury is still out on Harnish. Maybe he can develop, but I don't know. What I do know is that unless we get a super stud RB like Turner or Wolfe, we need a superstar QB. Look at what distinguishes the top 3 teams in our division. You just cannot win this thing without a smart, talented, athletic QB.

RE: Sr. Night - Thank You
I think you also have to keep in mind the following things.

A. The O-line needs to get better. I see them standing straight up more often then not.
B. The Defense was playing off most of the game, only putting 6 in the box, why? They knew they could stop the run due to the weak O-line and didn't let Harnish throw any passes longer then 10 yards.
C. Let's let these guys grow and develop, both players and coaches, and see what happens. I'm pretty sure the folks in Ann Arbor don't think Rich Rod can coach either. Give Coach Kill some time to build his program and let's see what happens. Four games better then last year showed some promise. Just winning two more games next year puts NIU in a bowl game. I think we could find where there were two games that could have gone the other way this year. You know Ball State is going to come back to the field. CMU might too. My first choice to go recruit is Offensive and Defensive linemen.

See you at the spring game.

100% AGREE.... Jury out on Harnish. You need a stud playmaker RB or QB if you don't have one you suck hind tit. We did NOT make plays last night..RB QB WR ...NO ONE MADE a PLAY. When your best play is drop back let your QB run thats not good. Coming into the season the biggest concern we had was the ability to make plays and 2008 Huskies did NOT make enough of them .... WE NEED TO BE FASTER >>STRONGER....

WE NEED PLAYMAKERS. A WR that can break tackles and run after the catch ...a RB that can EXPLODE thru a seam. The 2008 HUSKIES were SLOW. We NEED PLAYMAKERS>

While very disapoppointed with the final outcome and highly frustrated by being turned away from 2 TDs the second half, I never felt embarrassed one moment for the effort demonstrated by the Huskies.

Me either. A truly devoted fan supports their team no matter what. And that is me. I will never leave a game early - or show up late for the opening kickoff . I am proud to be a Huskie fan. 04-rock

Personally, I was not all that impressed with Navy. Yes, they won. But they only managed 16 points. And they apparently do not trust their QB to throw a pass - as he only threw the ball one time for crying out loud. Yes, running the ball worked but I found Navy to be boring to watch on TV. If they were really good, they would have racked up more points.
