He couldn't tell me what section they'll be in because they're not getting their tickets until they get on the bus to leave for DeKalb.

With the anticipated lack of student attendance, I'm thinking they might be on the east side.

gosh i hope not...

away team fans + drunk students = Classless idiots that dont know what they are doing.

correct there were those.

There were a lot of those, which was pretty sad. I heard people saying, "Kill them" and "Go to Iraq or Afghanistan like everyone else in the Navy."

Really distasteful. Hopefully the people on the west side treated the soldiers with class and dignity.

Would love to hear from some Naval serviceman on this board.
I think that the vast majority of students and fans acted with class.
Wish we would have had a heated Tent outside with large TV's and drinks.
Would have added more to the experience.

There were lots of Navy sailors and fans at the game, and they made lots of noise. I was thankful that Great Lakes shipped so many busloads of new recruits to the game, and I hope they had a good time. I did not have an opportunity like that in Air Force Basic. :muttering:

I would like to see Navy come back to NIU someday, and I would like to see the Huskies figure out how to beat them.

That was just pathetic. I was all for booing their players and heckling them like they were any other team (defiantley was not on board for cheering for them and singing their fight song), but you have to draw a line someone. It honestly pissed me off. Just bush league.

Completely agree. That is disgusting. We owe respect to every single one of those sailors that came. It's sad how just a few loud people can ruin it for everyone.

I won't even type out the things that I heard, I can't even repeat them. They were truly disgusting and dis-tasteful.

Just picked up my brother from Great Lakes since he's home for the holiday weekend.

He said generally they were greeted and given much praise by the majority of the NIU fan base. Although he did say he was shocked by how some of the older fan base, 30-50 year olds, were intoxicated and yelling some rather ridiculous things at himself and some of the other Sailors.

There will always be problems with any home team students and visiting fans, but our older generation??? Are you kidding me?

Overall he said they all had a good experience and thanked NIU for giving them the opportunity to attend.
