I would like the cycle of winning a MAC title as well as beating a BCS conference team which will be 4 straight years of not doing it.

I would also like the cycle of winning a bowl game, that isn't a crap bowl against a team 95% of the country couldn't identify.

since when did we take the Notre Dame school of thought? There was absolutely NOTHING wrong w/ playing Troy in San Jose, or TCU in San Diego.

There was nothing "wrong" about playing them. But the fact is that for over half the country the Silicon Valley Bowl didn't end until well after midnight after being delayed - only die hards bothered watching that game (I being one of them). And TCU kicked our a$$ - again - I'm glad we went to that bowl, but I'd rather if we were going to lose we'd lose to a BCS team - that way people can't say, "look, they can't even beat the good non-BCS teams, and they think they are on the same caliber as the BCS?"

Explain to me why NIU scored less than half the total number of points previously yielded per game by Owls this season.

its easy, out offense is bad.

Troy is 4-2 this season, #1 in the Sun Belt, and defeated Oklahoma State this season. They also won the Sun Belt last season. They may not be known nationally like NIU is but they have a pretty good program.

I have nothing against Troy, but when we played them was 3 years ago and Troy has made a lot of progressin that time.

I never said we shouldn't be in that bowl, but I would have liked to beat a good TCU team - THAT was a decent team and bowl.

It's interesting you chose to ignore the lack of winning the MAC title in an incredibly weak conference.
I want to go to better bowls too but you haave to be honest with yourself-while in the MAC we will never go to a nationally known bowl game. I agree with the huskiealum03 you sound just like ND when they didn't go to a bowl game because it was "beneath them". As for winning the MAC, we have had bad luck that when we were really good so was Toledo and/or BUGS.

I wish I had your genius minds reading in BS - I never said that we shouldn't have gone to that game - but there were 2 other MAC bowls that were much better - I would have wanted to go to those.

ND refused bids - there is a huge difference.

BAD LUCK - losing when you have better talent is not bad luck - it's bad coaching.

Except for Bristol CT, the Northeast has NO clue who we are.

They run a promo for the local sports radio station up here that makes fun of Garrett Wolfe and NIU. A caller called in claiming Wolfe would be better than Peterson yada yada. It's not pretty to say the least, and it's not really against Wolfe, but against NIU and the MAC.

Sorry friends, outside of the western Chicago media markets, NIU isn't but a fart in the wind......

One thing that really bothers me is when people personally attack people like Ryan Morris, say that he is no good or worse. My perspective is that we are fortunate to have a guy like Ryan on our team. It takes courage, guts and determination to walk onto a D1A football team and then to stay with it and eventually see some playing time. He has my admiration and my support.

Our coaches have some tough decisions about playing him or playing some freshman. We will have a new head coach soon enough. Until we do I will continue to support coach Novak and to be thankful for what he has done for our program. When he won, he won with grace and dignity. When he loses, he loses with grace and dignity. When I see our players interviewed in public I am proud of them. They are polite and articulate and I think that they are learning some life skills in addition to football while going through coach Novak's program. As a parent of two young adults I probably appreciate that more now than I did 30 years ago.

Well said, I agree.

+2. 100%. :ncaabbs:
