Keys to beating Temple
Here are my keys to beating Temple:

1.D-Line has to continue to improve. Injuries have required many new faces to play.
2.Reduce Turnovers. Huskies have moved the ball well but have committed too many turnovers.
3.Reduce dump penalties. Acevedo should be on a short leash. For a Senior, he is DUMB. Same goes for Reiter.
4.Run the ball. Anderson - 30 carries. Bryant/Crider/Spann - 15 carries. Control the clock and line of scrimmage.

If the Huskies reduce turnovers, results will be much improved. Play smart and they will be fine.

RE: Keys to beating Temple
IMO ...

1) Momentum. Temple is a young team and this is homecoming. They will be totally jacked up for this game. NIU needs to take the wind out of their sails early.

2) NIU's D-line. Our front four brought a lot of pressure without blitzing and DiMichele spent a lot of the afternoon running around.

3) Keep it in front of you. Temple is fast ... and I suspect Golden will be looking to pull out the gadgets (as he did in last year's HC contest).

4) Like klake87 said - Run. The. Ball. This goes well with #1. If NIU gets back to Huskie football - pounding away on the ground - they could take control of the game.

This will be an interesting one.

RE: Keys to beating Temple
Our offensive line play last week was the best in a year and a half. I don't know if it was just making the change at left guard from Mayerbock to Skatrud, but the OL had a BIG game. We were knocking CMU off the ball consistently (now about those fumbles). Pound the ball at them.

You know you've fallen on rough times when you need "keys" to beating Temple.

NIU is not that bad a team if they can eliminate mistakes. Talentwise, they can compete with anyone in the MAC. When you turn the ball over and have dumb penalities you are making the game that much harder to win.

If NIU can reduce TOs, they will be competitive the rest of the season.

Don't drop the FRICKIN ball!

Special teams stay in your lanes and hit people.

Don't shoot ourselves in the foot.

That's the only reason we are 1-4 instead of 4-1.

Recover onside Kicks!
Catch the ball! (Esp. when open).
Do not fumble!
Offensive line make blocks for RB, and open up throwing game!
Catch the ball Britt!
No stupid penalties by Junior and senior players!
Realize that Temple wants to end their loseing streak.
We have succeeded in making Eastern Michigan and S.I.U. look great!

Lets not make Temple look great!

Those are essentially the keys for beating anyone. I guess that's appropriate, as the Huskies seem to be their own worst enemy.

I would summarize by saying make Temple beat you. Do not give them any favors like turnovers or big kick returns.

The Huskies have been giving away more presents than Santa Clause this year.

Still not sure I want temple to succeed or fail in the MAC.

If they become a consistent winner does that mean a perrenial national doorstop improved or just got to play competition more suited to their lowly talent?

Would a MAC foothold in Philadelphia really mean that much?

Are most Temple fans like the stereotype & notorious sports fans associated with the city of NotSoBrotherly Luv?

Yes. In the long run should/when the get good/competetive and start drawing fans. Once they become a desirable team to show on tv, they have the local/regional CN8 to show their games. THat is Comcast which is shown from the mid atlantic to the NE near Boston(though I don't think Boston actually is Comcast). Right now Comcast shows 1AA games like Maine and NH. While that may be ok for ratings, I can't imagine it would be as good as a good/competetive Temple. It opens up a new market for recruits and new viewers/future students.
