RE: Why we are 1-4
The ensuing weeks will be a true test for this football team as they have to develop mental toughness. It is also a true test for this board and its participents. I have been through tough years and although not enjoyable you keep the hope to keep on for the years ahead. Its your school. Most left on this board are presently students and younger grads who have become involved in the last 7 or so years, years in which we enjoyed unprecdented success. That's the easy part. Now is when your allegencies will be tested. And as I have said before, when you stay with it through the tough times you earn the right to be there for the good times.

It seems he makes these throws early in the game and then just starts to fade away and toss turnovers as the game goes on. Morris didn't look any better at games end but at least Joe did the right thing and gave Ryan some experience. I won't even start to discuss Britt's awful catching abilities and the other fumbles that happened.

Can these guys somehow get their $H!t together????

Perhaps the should put in Billy Lowe... WOOPS! Did I just say that?

Special Teams have really killed us this year.
It has been awhile since we have been so bad.
Who is our special teams coach?
I didn't see anybody listed in the program.

RE: Why we are 1-4
Here's the real reason we are 1-4

Week 1: Didn't listen to Huskie Fight Song in the car going to work.

L

Week 2: Was in Hawaii, did not listen to Huskie Fight Song.

L

Week 3: Was in Maui, trying to fly back to Chicago, didn't listen to Fight Song.

L

Week 4: Back in Chicago, figured I would listen to Fight Song.

W

Week 5: Car in shop for repairs, did not listen to Fight Song.

L

Week 6: Have been listening to Fight Song this week.

We don't have an individual special teams coach, Joe assigns different aspects (FG, Punt return & coverage, Kick return & coverage) to different coaches. So, maybe that's the problem, although it hasn't been a problem in the past.

RE: Why we are 1-4
Never gave it a thought before...very interesting observation to be considered as a partial reason for our lack of productivity on special teams.

Many like me are quick to grab for straws to underestand why Huskies unraveled more so than expected this season.

Y U T E and injuries seems to be the most plausible and significant explanations forwarded thus far.

Why special teams play has been weak is also a puzzle?

Are these to be ultimately viewed simply as "excuses" when season's go south?

He asked about Special Teams coach, not "Special" Teams coach.

Yes, 'tis all my fault. It's because I make the boys wear tight thongs and spandex pants. Since they can't play well, anyway, might as well give the fans in the stands something to look at! 04-jawdrop

Had I known Alum90 was going to be asleep at the wheel like this, I wouldn't have spent so much time writing these windy defenses of the almighty single-back offense. I'd have just pointed all the pants-pissers his direction.

In order to pull out all the stops, I'll be using the NIU drum line cadence as foreplay leading up to the Temple game... I'm sure my wife will be so impressed.

She actually might be, now that I think about it. My usual, "You ready?" pales in comparison to the sonic wherewithal of The Pride Of The Midwest.

This is impressive, and it's why I love this board so much. My theme song has been, "O, Come All Ye Faithful." It has not worked all that well for me. On the rare occasion when it does, my wife plays 3 Dog Night's, "Mama Told Me Not To Come."

Nah, I just noticed that the 2005 drumline cadence lasts for 2 minutes and 5 seconds... which is about the same as me.

I've been giving this a lot of thought, and I believe we are 1-4 because in the 4 games we lost the other team scored more points than us! :)

RE: Why we are 1-4
I'm shocked that I have not gotten to the bottom of this question sooner re: why NIU is 1-4 this season !

Its' now all so obvious why we continue to make so many mistakes and have such ugly performances when deep down these Huskies are not that ugly.

IT's all because of ROID !

It's a mistake and ugly. Touching it has actually had the opposite of intended consequences on players. The living Huskies are merely reflecting what the faux Huskie represents - an ugly assortment of mistakes.

Deep down inside there are real Huskies waiting to be freed of a curse not unlike the billy goat .
