Two straight Finals trips not enough?

I am shocked. What does a coach have to do these days?

what about the fact that:
1) Scott
2) fassel
3) Jarvis
4) layden
5) chaney
6) Sather (soon)
7) valentine

were all fired within the last year. new York coaches are being recycled pretty quickly.

Um dont know where you've been but this kind of hting happens a lot in the NBA where the players have clout. (and they are paid)

I cant think of an instance outside of Carolina where this has happened in college hoops, and Doh boy was a lame duck anyways.

I agree, it is sad that Jason Kidd runs that team. I wish Rod Thorn had the integrety to trade Kidd when Kidd went up to thorn this summer and said it is me or Scott.

Kidd is one of the best players in the league, the Nets would be nothing without Kidd. You can't trade him because he doesnt get a long with the coach. If Kidd goes to Thorn and says its me or him (Scott) one of us has to go it has to be Scott, if this is indeed the way it went down Thorn made the right decision. In the NBA (with few exceptions, Larry Brown and Phil Jackson are two off the top of my head) the star players are more important than the coaches.

In other words Jason Kidd is more valuable to the team than Byron Scott and this is the case for most NBA teams.

Kidd is more valuable than Scott, and it is obvious winning is all Rod Thorn cares about. I would like to hope that Thorn had the integrety to say to Jason Kidd that I know that trading you will cost us some wins, but the coach is the coach, and if you have a problem with that you are gone, I don't care about the consequences.

What is the goal of the NBA if its not winning? If Thorn had done what you said he would have gotten himself fired.
