Nate,

Surely these clowns are smart enough to realize that if Randolph was good enough to be recruited by Duke then Williams and Hewitt had to know they didn't have a snowball's chance of getting him and you can bet either one of them would sell their grandmas to have Shav on their bench.

If Shav had wanted to go to Tech or Maryland you can bet he'd be there and their coaches would be cutting his steaks for him.

If shavlik my balls were on maryland's bench....I wouldn't be making excuses why he was there...

and I am not even going to respond to your comments about being on the bench and jumping up and down...he didn't look so hurt, did he? I know what it is like to be on the bench injured and you he didn't look very injured...

but I digress, like i said earlier..only time will tell how good any of these players will be...

btw..why don't you call me an idiot one more time, it make you arguement so much stronger that you have to always resort to that so many times...

You're repeating the same thing over and over... not even responding to my post... just saying that Shav is a ****** and should be playing... against Coach K's judgment.

And sorry for calling you an idiot... ignorance just really gets to me and I end up spouting insults when I read something ignorant.

Good afternoon boys. The arrogance of the Duke fans are outstanding. The debate about Shav is funny. I am a die-hard MD fan but I will honestly say he could be good (not great). NCM will be a fierce threat to all ACC teams. His numbers reflect a role that the coach gave him this year. He was not deligated to score as much as he was to rebound, block shots and defend while following-up shots. Shav was deligated as a scorer when he played. The truth will be determined in 2004 when NCM is given a scorers role. I think Shav is pretty good, but the athleticism is not even on the same planet as NCM.

Now onto the Gilcrest bashing. I will say it now and remind you later that JC will be the most productive point guard in the ACC. He commits no turn-overs (even as a freshman). His dribble penetration can't be stopped. The kid even rebounds. Chris Duhon sucks. He proved it this year and will again.

Jamar Smith will pound big men into the ground. Mike Jones will slash and burn at will and only May has almost the size of Fofana.

Please count out the terps!

ps. JJ is a pot smoking moron.

Yeah... Duhon really sucks... That's why he led the ACC in assists and was top 5 in steals and #1 in PGs for ******/turnover ratio.

Shav's role was to be a scorer? Really... So, how often do you talk to Coach K?

Fofana may be big, but so is Liquid Karma. Does that mean LK is gonna tear up the ACC next year? Maybe in a beer drinking contest 03-wink, but not basketball. Size is only good when coupled with skills. Good example... Eric Williams... He's huge, but he's developed great footwork over this year.

Gilchrist never turns the ball over... really?

Well what happened to Jamar Smith this year? I thought he was supposed to "pound big men into the ground" this year? What happened? 03-confused

Face it, Maryland will be fortunate to make the NCAA tournament next year.

I see that you sir are an idiot. If you are going to try to tell me that Jamar was supposed to start over two seniors, then you are just dumb. You have yet to see him play.

Now, let's clear up a few things. Duhon did NOT lead the ACC in Assists, Steve Blake did, followed by Felton, followed by Duhon. He was # 4 out of 9 teams in steals (wow). Duhon did NOT have the #1 assist/turnover ratio, again Steve Blake did. Duhon followed him there too. So, do me a favor and check your stats before you ramble off some crap. (all information was from the official ACC website in case you want the truth).

As for Fofana, I can't speak for him yet but people have compared him to a Mike Sweetney (which will work fine for me). Shav's recruiting info lists him as being a scorer, that's where I got that.

As for Gilcrest, I will say it now that he will be a more effective point guard than Duhon as a Sophomore. In case you missed every MD game, you would know he is consistant and a great ball handler, unlike Duhon.

I'm not going to say MD will win it all next year, but don't dare count these two past recruiting year's out. These guys are good.

ps. next time bring your facts with your big mouth.

I said "Duhon LED the ACC in assists and ******/turnover ratio". That doesn't mean at the end of the season, that means at some point. He also led the NCAA in assists.

Jamar Smith had all sorts of hype with him. Just like Shav did... Thanks for falling into my trap! "Anyone with a brain would know that Jamar wouldn't start over 2 seniors". Well anyone with a brain knew coming in that Shav was too light to be a serious contributor this year. OK... your logic is failing you here, buddy.

Just cause he's compared to Mike Sweetney doesn't mean he will be anywhere near his level of talent, especially his freshman year.

I guess we should trust "recruiting info" over Shav's coach, Coach K.

Consistent ball handler, great passer... that sounds a lot like Duhon. Chris was one of the best passing PGs in the country this year, he just sucked ****** shooting the ball.

Next time bring a respectable and objective opinion.

You know that's really sad that you have to hang on "he lead at some point this year". The fact is he was far from the best point guard in the ACC this year (maybe 3rd best). That honor was obviously earned (again) by Steve Blake. Thanks for bringing up the point that Duhon can't shoot as well. Can I make yet another point? Duhon's assists are a joke. I could have 7 assists per game if every first pass I make is to a ball hog like JJ who shoots the ball everytime he touches it. Blake had to actually work for his (much better) numbers. So you hang onto Duhon and keep quoting skewed numbers to make your sorry ****** player look good.

"Consistent ball handler, great passer... that sounds a lot like Duhon. Chris was one of the best passing PGs in the country this year, he just sucked ****** shooting the ball." Are you for real? How can a point guard command any type of respect when he can't hit any of his shots? No team in the ACC fears him (like JWill last year).

I will not tear down Shav too much. I agree that he was undersized and will probably be an effective player inside if Duke ever decides they have an inside game. Please save some dignity and don't talk about Horvath or Sanders. I will also say that Williams looks pretty good as well.

Jamar is not Randle or Baxter. He will be a Richardson (fl st) type player that will menace big men. He is far quicker than all the slow lumpy big men in the ACC. I guess you haven't seen his baseline moves?

As for Fofana, I personally would never compare him to the best big man in college today. My point is the reports say that he has great foot-work and he is a huge back-to-the-basket center. He will create all kinds of problems for teams if he can park his big ****** under to basket. I guess we will have to wait and see though. He could suck, but I doubt such a high recruit won't have some game.

And that is my "respectable and objective opinion".

Yeah at the beginning of the season when Duke played the first 15 home games against no-name teams, he may have lead something. I think Horvath lead in scoring...hahahaha. What a circus. Does he even know what he is talking about?

Actually Duhon led the ACC and the NCAA at multiple times this season, both in the non-conference part AND the ACC part of the season. Know what YOU'RE talking about.

Duhon's assists are a joke because he passes to a ball hog like JJ? What about Blake passing to that ball hog in Nicholas? What about Blake passing to the automatic 2 points in Randle? Of course every PG has some "cheap assists" but there is no way that argument can solely be used on Duhon. Maybe last year, when he had 3 of the best 10 players next to him... but this year? My hairy white ******.

I don't think Jamar Smith will be like Richardson because Richardson is taller, and can shoot much better. The jury is still out though, and I do think Jamar Smith is more athletic than Richardson, however.

Sorry, but saying that Duhon sucks and gets cheap assists is NOT a respectable opinion.

Here we go again. First Richarson is 6'7. Jamar is 6'9. That would mean Jamar is taller. I will admit to Richardson having a better shot, but Jamar is a better rebounder, inside player, basline player, etc. As a matter of fact, I would love to have Richardson on our team...he seems to know how to take it to Duke every year.

Now as for the assist thing. JJ made 22 more three's than Drue Nicholas. That would count for 22 more gimme assists (I realize not all to Duhon). Since JJ has absolutely no iside game (like Drew), the assists are one pass and done. Drew can create his own shot and actually had assists himself to Blake who can score. Comparing JJ to Drew is just stupid. Drew had many games where he played a non-scoring role. JJ threw up 50 3's a game whether or not they went in and that's all he did. And your comment about Randle being automatic, you aparently didn't see how he struggled this year. Steve Blake is twice the point guard that Duhon is or ever will be. The numbers say it, the starters national chamionship ring proves it (Don't even tell me Duhon has anything to do with Duke's championship).

I will still stand by my opinion that leading the ACC or the nation at times is ridiculous to hang an argument on. If he was so good then, does that mean that he's getting worse? Maybe his early easy schedule (which might I add where all played at home) skewed how good he really was. Perhaps you should do what everyone else does and look at complete stats.

ps. I never said Duhon sucked. I do say he is overrated and commands press and false hype ONLY because he plays for Duke.

Oh yeah...Nate. I forgot to mention that MD led te conference in Assists (18.5) per game where Duke was 8th (13.5). That alone should tell you which team passes the ball and which team is full of ball hogs. Since Steve Blake and Duhon are so close in assist numbers then that would mean other MD players were getting assists as well. If Blake averaged 7 and the team 18 then that would mean there weren't near the hogs playing for the terps as there were for Duke (7 and 13).

One thing about Duhon is that he's got another year to go.

He may not be the best point guard that ever played but I'll take Duke's record with him handling the ball over Maryland's any day!
