NCAA APR Sanctions
I'm really perplexed about NCAA APR sanctions.

Today CMU lost three more players off it's basketball team. In the past 5 years they've lost about 2 teams worth of players. In the last year they've lost Jon Yeazel to grades (he's retured), Eddie Spencer, they lost the 7 footer, and they just lost Nate Richie, they lost Tiemier, and they lost Smythe.

I remember when Kent lost 2 scholarships because of APR sanctions, but I dont ever remember them losing these kinds of numbers leading up to it.

It's odd that you don't hear about the 'powers' losing people to that, just the mids. 05-stirthepot

The big thing now with coaches is that if a player does leave, that they finish the semester in good academic standing, ie finish the semester passing, so that the APR isn't hurt as much.

I bet CMU gets nailed on the next edition.

WMU should be fine. If Donald stays and completes this semester, then it doesn't hurt as much. Remember, we also lost DeVries & Kendrick last year that will hurt the APR.

The last APR only used data from the 03-04 & 04-05 seasons. They had released the first two APR calcs in Feb & Mar, so they might not be releasing another APR calc until next year when they have 4 years of data. CMU was in the danger zone last time, but was saved due to a squad size adjustment. On their current pace, CMU will not be saved again and lose 2 schollies.

Do walk ons or non-scholarship players count toward the APR?

Winter semester isn't over yet for Cloutier, but I don't see a problem in him not finishing the semester up.

And DeVries still graduated the next fall. So that shouldn't bring numbers down.
