Nothing like celebrating like you won a national championship when there are still 1.2 seconds left on the clock.

Absolutely disgusting.

msu is also probably the worst hockey program in history to win the NCAA title.

The whole ncaa playoffs have been salt in the wounds. The Broncos showed a lot of potential at the end of the season. Another win or two and who knows what could have happened.

I guess I'll try to take some solace in the fact that a CCHA team won the National Championship. However, I find it a lot easier rooting for MAC teams in the post season than um, msu, and nd.

I'd much rather have MSU take it than scUM or Notre Damn.

Give the Spartans a break, it's their once every 20 year championship-1966,1986, 2006. I'll bet the couchs were burning last night.

I'll take the CCHA angle and be okay with it since we pasted MSU late in the season I feel that much better too. But damn, I'm not that happy....

Unlike others
I'll congratulate MSU. I agree Whinny1, better than UofM or ND.

Does anyone else remember when we swept the Spartans just a few weeks before playoffs began? This just shows that we have the potential, but can't take the next step. We lost to a bad team in the first round, what a bunch of shi t.

Ironically, the last time MSU won the national championship was the year WMU won the CCHA championship beating MSU in the CCHA title game. We then lost to Harvard in the NCAA tourney, and Harvard went on to be the team that lost to MSU in the NCAA championship game.

That was a fun season to watch the Broncos. Watching Wayne Gagne undress the MSU defense in the Finals was a thing of beauty. That was followed a few days later by the huge disappointment of not getting a home game for the NCAA's. Hard to believe that was over 20 years ago.

The best part being that Gagne was a defenseman. Granted I'm young enough that I've only seen highlights, but he and Dorian were just sick.

I've never seen highlights, but I've looked at their stats -- they are incredible.

199 career points for Gagne
178 career points for Dorion

Did you pronounce Gagne "gon-yay"?

There is a current NHL player that pronounces it that way. But WMU's Gagne pronounces it "gag-nee."

Anglocized French is not pretty to the ear. Sounds like gag me, as in gag me with a spoon.

I'm 100% sure on this one. That's the way it was pronounced when he was added to the WMU sport HOF, and it's how Culhane says it too (Culhane was a teammate).
