NIU on David Letterman's Top Ten
Top Ten signs of watching too much College Football.

#6 Instead of going to your daughter's wedding you decide to stay home and watch the NIU vs TCU game.

I don't find that bad. I understand the joke, but it is still publicity.

There is no bad press. ;-)

I don't remember seeing Dave's alma matter (Ball State) in any bowl games.

Why is this joke even funny? The game was on a TUESDAY...very few weddings occur on a Tuesday night

Don't over-analyze. It's a joke! ;-)

I think Central Michigan vs Middle Tennessee State is an even more obscure bowl came though.

Not really, try Troy vs. Rice. Sounds like an ancient war that should be in the history books. Then Troy goes out and destroys Rice.

That isn't bad publicity - it gets our name out there - that is definitely good pub! He could have said you miss you daughter's wedding for ND vs. LSU and the joke would have meant the same thing.

Interesting fact from the New Orleans Bowl.......

Troy and Rice are two of only three 1-A schools who's name is only one syllable.

Name the other.......

Oh, more interesting trivia questions from bowl games.........

This one was during the Tulsa vs. Utah game.

How many 1-A team names don't end in an "s"? i.e. Tulsa Golden Hurricane

Clue: There are 12, including Tulsa.

1. Tulsa Golden Hurricane
2. Tulane Green Wave
3. Alabama Crimson Tide
4. Stanford Cardinal
5. Ill Fighting Illini
6. ND Fighting Irish
7. ND Fighting Soiux (are they D1 A)
8. North Texas Mean Green
9. Navy Midshipmen
10. NC State Wolf Pack
11. Nevada Wolf Pack
12. Syracuse Orange (formaly Orangemen)

bonus: Marquette was The Gold for a day and a half last year.

All from memory...except the full name of North Texas. I knew they ended in "Green." Am I right? I'm not sure if North Dakota counts in this list.

No, North Dakota is not 1-A.

The one you missed is Marshall (Thundering Herd).

I thought I might have been in trouble with the ND. Oh well. At least my Marshall Blundering Turd mind erase was still working.
