1-AA outshines MAC
Let's face it, we laid an egg as a conference this weekend.

1-AA teams acquitted themselves much better than we did.

Montana State 19, Colorado 10
Richmond 13, Duke 0
Portland State 17, New Mexico 6

Other close calls:
Kansas State 24, Illinois State 23
Maryland 27, William & Mary 14
NC State 23, App. St. 10

What a shame. 03-weeping

Which team that the MAC faced wouldn't have beaten every 1A team you've mentioned here? Indiana maybe against (overrated) Maryland and NCST? Come on.

Nonsense!
None of the teams played mentioned were top teams.

Div1aa teams played unranked teams who did not take them very seriously!
We were once treated that way, but the MAC is no longer a joke (since 2003).
Toledo, CMU and NIU played very well against far stronger opponants than what Div 1aa faced.

Sure OOC wins are critical and we have not had any yet this year(accept Temple), however lets not exagerate!

We are a top 40 Football team with a botton 20 football budget.

Details are actually important - OSU, PSU, Wisconsin, Iowa State, BC are all better, and in some cases significantly better, than the BCS teams you listed (and New Mexico is not a BCS team).

Bully to the 1AA schools.

Colorado, Duke, New Mexico, and Kansas State are not good programs. Come on, Duke is a joke for football, and Colorado is obviously overrated as usual and they play in the Big 12 North which is the easiest of the two divisions.

I believe the truth is somewhere in the middle. This was a highly disappointing weekend of football for the MAC in my opinion

We are what we are...a strong mid major team in a weak mid major (overall) conference with a few good teams. We played an elite BCS team.

C'mon guys. Look in the mirror here.

It will get better, but we SUCKED this weekend and 1-AA had probably their biggest weekend against 1-A ever.

What out of conference wins did we get this weekend??? Temple (technically) and Tennessee-Martin?? 03-yawn

Oh sure, that's more impressive than beating Colorado, Duke, New Mexico and damn near Kansas State. 01-wingedeagle

And by the way, am I the only one that's alarmed that Indiana State put up 35 on Purdue!!!!!!!! 03-melodramatic

Yeah...but none of our teams lost to 1-AA teams (granted we only had 2 games against 1-AA teams...Tenn-Martin and Temple)

Ohio smashed Tenn-Mart!

By this logic, a win against Ohio will be a great win!
Lets move on to the Ohio game!
Thanks Ohio State for the great opportunity, National free media coverage and mostly for playing us!!

Temple is a D- 1 member.

If it was an attempot at sarcasm, just remember when NIU was walking in their shoes ten years ago & scraping the bottom of the barrel and losing to I-AA teams.

You are correct. We had the longest losing streak in the country!
We are still the miracle little team that could and should not have unrealistic expectations about our football team and coach!
We are still beeing held back by the U.I. on the field(they refuse to play us) and off the field they block us from getting more PhD programs(mainly Accountancy) and limit our finances making it very hard to compete both academically and Footballwise hence preventing NIU from achieving the next level.

Colorado has a brand new coach and lost a ton of Seniors last year, their loss was surprising but remember they lost to TX in the Big 12 title game last year 70-3!

Duke is a horrible program, NIU would beat them by 14 at least. Kansas St is rated by most observers as the worst in the Big 12, ISU acquitted themselves well but there are at least 4 MAC teams who would have played as well vs KSU. AP St won 1AA last year they would be successful in the MAC or CUSA. Maryland had a losing record last year and W&M made the 1AA playoffs last year.

Col, DUke, NM, NC ST, MD and KSU cannot compare to OH St, PSU, WI and BC
