Media/photography pass for OSU game??
Hey guys - I'm going to be in the Columbus area on 9/2 and will be planning on attending the OSU-NIU game after heading back from Ames to "work" the ISU-UT game. I was curious to know if anyone here has ties to get a photography (media) pass for me to cover the game. I'm also a UM fan, so I have no interest in seeing OSU win this one and will be pulling for the Huskies (and would like to see a MAC victory!). Typically I shoot Toledo games.

I also just picked up additional camera equipment (2nd body and new IS telephoto lens) to improve my work. So...regardless if there is any monetary compensation, I'd love to shoot this game if anyone would like LOTS of photos of the game and events surrounding it.

Sample of various work:

Thanks!

When he says lots of photos, he means lots of photos! He does a great job.

pDoGG - If no one bites on your offer, try contacting Ohio State's AD and see if they will give you a pass to cover the game for the Toledo Free Press. It just might work.

We like pDoGG's work. He was gracious enough to share his Toledo/NIU photos from the Glassbowl last year.

P, I would suggest contacting someone in NIU's Sports Information office (I'll PM the contact to you). In the past they've been rather stingy with people not representing a media outlet. They might even direct you to tOSU.

How can you not like a guy who brought us pics like this one:

EDIT: Oh well, it's not letting me post it. Follow the link.

Something else I thought of pDoGG. I, and ToledoRockets.Net, am now a member of the MAC News Media Association. That might give you some leverage with the NIU SID.

Credentials will come from TOSU. NIU will not issue any for this game.
The only thing is that they might "vouch" for you but being in Ohio, I'd think that you'd be ahead of the game already and should just contact TOSU.

Well, if you're a member and he works for you, I suppose that's legit. I know the guys at NIUFANS.com had trouble getting media passes from our Sports Info because they were not a recognized media outlet. I'd definately go with the credentials if you're going through NIU.

That's true that the credentials come for Ohio State, but if you are covering the game for NIU or the MAC it is proper ettiquette to go through NIU to request credentials. NIU would then request the credentials they need for Ohio State and give them out once they receive them from the Buckeyes.

Thanks for the comments guys....just thinking it may be easier through a NIU media outlet, but I still have the options RF mentioned. Being an OSU game, I could also just go the route of the Toledo Free Press for coverage, but want to see if there are any easier/related methods at this point.

I remember that shot well, well done. In fact, I expect to see a couple repeats of that on Nov 7th. ;-)

Going forward with requesting a media pass through OSU with the local paper. Will let you guys know if I end up shooting. I just did some work @ the AAA All-Star game in Toledo:
