Isn't this nice? Brotherhood in action! I feel so warm and fuzzy inside that I won't even need to take my morning enema.

I think that every morning, everyone here should pick out a buddy and say good morning to them. This could catch on big, and we could even start saying good night to each other. Pretty soon, deeper friendships would develop, board socializing would take place, and perhaps even gay activities would not be out of the question.

Oh sh!t, never mind! 01-lauramac2

Good morning Robert!

I signed off to get some paperwork in order for my business day, dropped my 6 year old daughter off at school (private Christian, of course) and watch the announcement of Tony Snow being installed as the new Press Secretary under GWBush.

Hope everyone has a great day today. It is beautiful here in the Midwest this morning!

so, bush has conceded fox is the mouthpiece for his administration? ;-) see god, what we need here is just one precision earthquake. one little natural calamity to knock down the fox news network. open up the earth and swallow the headquarters, cameras, transmitters, teleprompters... sparing the poor misguided souls so they may realize their errors and set about to live good fruitfull lives. amen.

The question is how much back pay is he owed? Afterall, he HAS been the Bush spokesman ever since he started at Faux.

I actually stole that. I think it was Keith Olberman(sp?) from MSNBC.

Robert is a very good guy. He cares. I think any company would be fortunate to have him.

Sometimes a person gets locked out of the job market because their area of specialization limits job opportunities outside of that profession. My major at Northwestern and NIU was very esoteric, and my job opportunities outside of teaching were somewhat limited. I made a mid-life career switch from the fine arts into accounting, and it was the best thing I ever did job-wise. Job opportunities were very limited for a brand new CPA in his late 30's, but I got into the profession and am now doing okay.

I am sure that Robert is searching all channels. I would recommend pursuing all available opportunities in government - at the local, state, and federal level. Robert, have you checked job postings at government agencies?

I also believe in the use of headhunters and job counselors. Because I came from such a different background, I really appreciated the help of a counselor who helped me frame my resume better. A headhunter set up a few interviews for me. Ultimately, however, I found a job by sending my resume and a cover letter to virtually every accounting firm in the Chicagoland metro area. One of my letters clicked.

Keep plugging away, network, get your name out there, and hopefully good things will happen.

If "we will let you know in about 2 weeks because we have other applicants" means "sorry, don't bother us again" then no I didn't and don't have a shot. If they really mean it, then I still have a shot. I would know by the end of this week for the Vermont job and by the end of next week for the Connecticut job.

The problem I am having is I didn't take GIS programming(damn prerequisites) and I am behind on my software knowledge. I should have gone to school while working my other jobs(or between jobs) to keep up but I didn't. I deserve a 04-chairshot for that.

As for insurance, I am in ground zero for insurance jobs(Hartford Ct). I have looked to see if there was anything it looked like I could do but it really didn't seem like there was much(Aetna is a short 3-5 minute drive from me-depending on traffic). I am not exactly outgoing so I wouldn't do very well at sales but I would give it a try if I was guaranteed at least 6 months pay. Of course it doesn't work that way.

Claims, my son, claims. No sales.

Claims pays a salary until you can get a job in what you really want to do.

I say, boy, I say, which way to the chicken coup??

Avoid Aetna.

Hartford, Chubb, Liberty Mutual, good.
