Looks like insult is being added to injury. The MacKenzie Frenzy will miss the rest of the season with his knee injury and Argo Al looks to have a long term injury. His calf swelled up to twice its normal size. I wondered why he was on cruches for Sundays game.

On this Thurs. "Coaches Corner", Judson said Al was kicked in the calf during (I think) the EMU game.

I feel badly for McKenzie and Argo Al. In all candor, not having Al has an option is a good thing for the development of this team. We should be in 100% developmental mode right now. That means playing guys other than Al, Walter Thompson and James Byrd. In terms of McKenzie, the best thing in the world that could happen for the program is if he were to decide to leave thereby opening up his "wasted" scholarship.

I really hope that McKenzie's 6th year does not count towards the 13 scholarship limit. I think he has to pay his own way, but they make sure that he gets a job at the Convo to defray the costs.

As if we didn't have enough depressing developments, does everyone realize that NIU has only ONE scholarship to offer next fall (currently "occupied" by James Byrd)?

Yes sir, there is ENORMOUS pressure on Rob Judson to make sure he hit a homerun with the class of Cy Tate, Zach Pancratz, Frank Clair and Craig Reichel. All of them will be heavily counted on to be quick studies and to begin contributing near immediately.

Another sobering thought is that barring transfers, we have two more years to endure of the sad sophmore class of Anthony Maestranzi, Todd Peterson and Rome Sanders. And another three years of James Hughes. And lets not even go there with Bryan McKenzie.

NOT a pretty picture. Perhaps its time to start laying odds for when the administration musters the energy to can Rob Judson. Believe me, somebody is going to start feeling the heat for a Convocation Center that surely is operating in a sea of red ink due in big part from lack of success in men's hoops. Perhaps Rob Judson should get a side job trying to secure more monster truck rallies and tractor pulls for the Convo Center to take the heat off his anemic hoops program!!!

Lets just face the facts judson doesn't know how to recruit.

Take purdue for example, Gene Keady never recruits stars, he recruits guys who are the talent of NIU's, but these guys fit into a system. Does judson do that? Does he even have a 'system' for guys to fit into?

Being a program like we are we can't hope on getting a star, but what we can do is have a system that players we recruit fit into, and yes everyonce in awhile when we do that we will get a star, but doing that every year we will win a good number of games.

Coach Illini Guy does indeed have a system. His system is substitutions every minute or less. Thus he recruits guys with enough bounce and spring in their step so they can easily get up from their chairs, get onto the court, and then sit back down. It's time we show Rob the door. I just wish there was a way we could show our displeasure for him at the game without the players thinking its for them. Signs? :withstupid:

After watching last Sunday's game against Buffalo, I'm not sure we have a system that one would recognize as a college offense. Very scary.

If there is a way to get the Convo Center to get an ice rink, the Rockford Icehogs are looking to renegotiate with the Rockford Metro Center. If they can't, they were looking for other options. I am hesitant to bring in the Lightning for more than a few games because it competes with NIU b-ball and possibly hurt attendance.
