With all do respect to Southern Illinois and its fans, NIU will thoroughly thrash this team. We are at the quality level and stage as a football team that anything short of a lopsided domination is unacceptable.

But don't worry Saluki fans. Your basketball program is 100 times what ours is. To make things fair after we maul you in football we can always have Rob Judson's sorry excuse for a team make a trip down to Carbondale.

Absolutely! Anyone who expects a blowout could be in for a shock. I have no doubt that last year's SIU team would have given us a run for our money and maybe even beaten us. They were right among the top 1-AA teams in the country. Do not sell them short like we did Western Illinois a couple years ago. 05-nono

A football team should worry about any opponent it faces, whether it be Southern Illinois, Toledo or USC. NIU will respect SIU and amply prepare for the game. Having said that, if we are overly worried about a matchup against a division II opponent then how far has our program really come? NIU is a steadily climbing program and one of the elite mid-majors in the country. It is SIU who should fear us and not vice versa.

Though it is against a division II opponent, I love that this matchup is on the schedule. Yet another way to raise the profile of our program across the state and, hopefully, bolster media coverage.

SIU is 1AA and was quite good this year. Their coach was a winner of the region's AFCA 1AA Coach of the Year award, much like Joe was this region's 1A winner.

I'll add more fuel to the fire.

My early prediction. NIU 44 SIU 10, Salukis leave thinking that we stole their playbook, just like one of our other in-state D1AA rivals.

I predict we win by a field goal at the end of regulation. Azar boots a 48-yarder. Wait a minute...Azar is graduating! Oh, oh!! Can Nendick handle this pressure?? 09-hitit

Arrogance is the cause of many downfalls. NIU will respect SIU and prepare mightily for the contest as it does for all contests. The result will be a thorough thrashing of a much lesser opponent, regardless if they are the cream of the crop in division IAA.

Personally i think we need to look at SIU before we can tell what happens, do they lose many players after last season?

It's February. That means, of course, that we're going 11-0 this fall.

Willie, according to Delaware game lineups, they lose four on offense, one on defense and the two kick returners. Those skinny hairy dogs look like a tough opponent.
GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is officially SIU. Not sure if anyone actually mentioned that. I will say one thing, this will confuse the hell out of the Maryland fans.

Anyway, the crossovers as mentioned before are at UCF (or is it Mickey Mouse University?) and Akron comes here.

I will tell you, I am looking forward to seeing Bryan Holicek 6-2 345. They showed a couple clips and he was really impressive.
