With the national attention given to our football program last year, one would think that the Athletics Dept. would itself get on the bandwagon and market Huskie logo merchandise any place and every place. This is just not happening. I frequently get sports merchandise catalogs and e-mails from numerous businesses that sell sports merchandise. NIU is consistently not on anyone's lists. I see merchandise from many tiny colleges (like Pacific Lutheran), but rarely - if ever - NIU. One company - JR's Sports - has stuff from each MAC school except NIU. There are other sites like this. A relative knows my infatuation with the Huskies and wanted to buy me some merchandise, but he could not find it anywhere.

What the hell is going on here? This is a perfect opportunity to market the school and MAKE SOME MONEY! This consistent lack of marketing from NIU suggests that they really do not know what they are doing. (Is this news?) NIU merchandise is not even easy to find in the DeKalb area or western suburbs (except in the NIU bookstores). When, oh when, will they be able to do something right to make some money? 03-banghead

You're right, NIU merchandise is non-existant anywhere outside of DeKalb...it's pretty rediculous you can't even get an NIU hat at Lids at the mall but you can get an ISU or SIU cap. Internet is horrible too, even when they do have NIU stuff it isn't good. Check out this site <a href='http://www.collegeflagsandbanners.com/generic92.html' target='_blank'>http://www.collegeflagsandbanners.com/generic92.html</a>

What year is that from? Early 90s?

Looking closely at it, I would say the 1960's.

The banner on the right is the infamous "wolf" logo circa 1986. It was never officially endorsed by NIU but still made its way onto merchandise and even the water tower behind Huskie Stadium (has since been repainted with the current logo).

I agree that the university could do a much better job at marketing Huskie merchandise.

YAY! Check it out, <a href='http://www.collegeflagsandbanners.com/generic92.html' target='_blank'>http://www.collegeflagsandbanners.com/generic92.html</a> They finally moved into the new millenium! Got the new flag up for sale in addition to the old skool one. Must be their version of a "throwback" banner.

I may have to order that. I think VCB had 3 flags with the new logo in stock before the 1st game. I went in every Saturday and they told me new ones were ordered and on the way. They never came.

VCB has them. The 2-sided flag, like the one pictured in the site above, is just under $50. I just bought a nice one there, one-sided, with the logo on a white background framed in red for $22. Both of these flags are on the VCB website.
