Would you fork over $250 with no explanation of what this event is?

Do you sit down eat dinner and Ditka and Vanisi walk through the restaurant for 30 seconds? Wahooo, sounds like $250 well spent.

It's a dinner with open bar. There are supposed be numerous guest speakers. Lots of Chicago sports figures (and legends) were invited, but who knows if all, or any, of them will attend. I am not going; however, I will add the amount I would have spent on this event to my annual Huskie Club donation. That way, 100% of my donation goes to Huskie athletics and everyone is a winner.

Wonder if they will solicit any donations for the Football Building? Oh I forgot, they are still in the "quiet period" Sorry, I could not resist this one.

I'm sure they will talk it up, show drawings and simulations, explain the dire need, ask people to contribute, and then not take contributions or offer a way to contribute. This has already happened. 03-banghead

I got a call at home today, with a recorded message from Joe Novak about this event. First time I recall getting a recorded message for a Huskie event, I usually just get the little postcards in the mail. I wonder if they are having trouble selling tickets to this event.

$250 a pop is a little tough in this economy for most people, also considering that season ticket renewals, chairback options, and Huskie Club donations are currently due.

My wife is the one who told me of the recorded vmail message from Joe.....and my first thought was , yea, for that to happen first time ever means it's an urgent , no - make that desparate tactic, given the $ 250 figure .....

Dumb question: Was it 'automated' recording or was Joe dialing from a phone list live" ?

If I wasn't in early stages of total kitchen remodeling including appliances, cabinets, flooring , wall tile etc , I mite have suggested to family members & friends that a cash birthday present next month to pay for my tix would be a great gift suggestion. ...on second thought I mite just have the nads to do it.
