Twitter is saying ACCN is now on DISH channel 402! Talk about last minute!

A message I got from Dish:

You asked and we listened! We are happy to announce that the ACC Network is available on channel 402 if you subscribe to the America's Top 120 Plus package or higher! -JI

Dish on Twitter:
@espn and DISH have an agreement in principle to distribute the @accnetwork on DISH TV in time for the Georgia Tech vs #1 ranked Clemson. If you're a subscriber with America’s Top 120+ or above, our Regional Action Pack or our Multi-Sport Pack, watch tonight’s game on channel 402

John Ourand who writes on media for the Sports Business Journal and I believe was the first to break this last night, replied to the question "What about Comcast?" with "Nothing imminent."

Of course, that could mean "Nothing in the next 20 minutes before kickoff" or "nothing in the next couple years."

I'm inclined to say it depends on who "caved". If it was ESPN, then I guess you could anticipate that the others would be on board soon. If it was Dish, that really doesn't inform Comcast or Cox at all.

But really it's not that simple, there are so many nuances to these contracts, who knows what ESPN might have given up. It probably wasn't as simple as cutting the carriage price, it probably was some other concession or business arrangement. And there's no guarantee that whatever they came to even applies to other carriers.

By my count though, aside from the streaming carriers, is this the first major add that WASN'T part of an overall omnibus deal?

RE: ACC Network
From Fox Business:
Quote:...The fledgling service is years away from a subscriber base on par with that of the SEC Network, which boasts roughly 59 million subscribers generating about $230 million in annual revenue, according to estimates by The Athletic. Still, ACC schools will see a noticeable revenue hike in the coming years, and the ACC Network should quickly exceed revenue generated by the embattled Pac-12 Network, according to John Vrooman, a sports economist at Vanderbilt University.

“Optimistic forecasts of $10 million to $15 million per school for the new network are probably somewhat exaggerated but after an initial shakedown period, ESPN’s fully owned ACC Network should surpass the Pac 12’s fully owned Pac-12 Network with about $5 million to $8 million bump in revenues per school after 2019,” Vrooman told FOX Business. ...

The "years away" part is correct if Comcast holds out until they have to renew their contract with Disney three years from now but that's far from certain.

The $5-$8 million estimate may turn out to be correct but I don't know how anyone can confidently estimate ACCN revenues at this time even fudging it with a range that great.

Looking back five years, ESPN didn't want to release any numbers on viewers for the first football game on SECN. I'm guessing the numbers leaked out on the ACCN's first football game because they were so strong.

Disney got Dish to the table thanks to FX contracts being up. Spectrum was at the table thanks to their Disney deal being up. Are Comcast and Cox willing to come to the table early or do they fill like they can wait?

Dish Network will show ACC Network tonight for its first football game. Sling Preview will also carry it. Deal not signed. It’s described as a handshake deal. - John Ourand

Dish network has acc network. Channel 148.
Sling TV Orange (Sling is only $25 a month with the Orange package. It works best for us since we also have Amazon Prime and use our son's Netflix and a digital antenna)

DISH carried the Clemson-Ga. Tech game last night. Most of their subscribers didn't know it since they agreed to terms with Disney only about an hour before game time.

RE: ACC Network
Federal regulators have signed off on the proposed merger between DIRECTV & AT&T, a deal that creates the largest pay-TV service in the United States and the world. Combining DIRECTV’s 20.3 million U.S. customers with AT&T’s 5.7 million U-verse video customers will result in a total of 26 million video subscribers. The merger is expected to expand the AT&T broadband network to a coverage area of 70 million customer locations.

RE: ACC Network
AT&T (T) to Shut Down U-Verse and Shift Users to DIRECTV

AT&T Inc. is planning to completely phase out its long-standing U-verse brand. The brand consists of fiber-based triple-play video (TV), voice (telephony) and high-speed broadband (Internet) offerings. This move is in line with AT&T’s strategy to discontinue the service. Accordingly, AT&T plans to shift some U-verse customers to satellite TV service provider DIRECTV, while some will be transferred to its over the top (OTT) online streaming service, DirecTV Now. By venturing into the OTT space, AT&T joined the likes of DISH Network Corp’s DISH Internet TV service - Sling TV and Sony Corporation’s SNE Playstation Vue, respectively.

RE: ACC Network
On Tuesday, AT&T launched a website for the AT&T TV streaming service. With the site launch, emails from AT&T to customers, press releases, and interviews, we’ve gathered a lot of information about all of AT&T’s streaming services.

These are the key points that we’ll dive into detail about below:

DIRECTV NOW is rebranding as AT&T TV NOW
AT&T TV is a new, separate streaming service
Both will be accessible with an AT&T TV app
AT&T will be launching a streaming box, powered by Android TV for AT&T

What Are AT&T’s 5 TV Services?

DIRECTV – AT&T’s satellite TV service
AT&T TV – this will be the streaming version of DIRECTV
AT&T TV NOW – the rebranded version of DIRECTV NOW
AT&T Watch TV – a $15/month streaming service with limited channels
U-Verse TV – AT&T’s legacy service through its old U-Verse internet service (Reports of phasing this service out and shuffling customers to DIRECTV or AT&T TV or AT&T TV NOW)

Will AT&T Watch TV Still Be Available?

We don’t know yet. AT&T hasn’t said much about AT&T Watch TV in their last few public announcements and interviews. We’ll give an update as soon as we know more about any changes we might see with AT&T Watch TV.

What’s the Difference Between AT&T TV and AT&T TV NOW?

AT&T TV NOW will be the new version of DIRECTV NOW. If you’re currently subscribed to DIRECTV NOW, your app should automatically update to ATT&T NOW when the new version launches. You’ll get 20 hours of Cloud DVR storage with this service.
