Cornell Mann continues to impress

I cant think of any Detroit recruits that Cornell Mann brought to WMU who left early. Some recent WMU players from Detroit include McLemore, Ricks, Ward, Whitfield and Douglas. All quality players and individuals.

When I talked to Pershings coach a few years back, I thought he'd refererence Mann in the conversation a lot. But he actually talked more about Hawkins. Mann spend more time at Ward's games, but I think Hawkins was more of an influence than people give him credit for.

He sold the concept of trust and stability and cemented it with Dre Ricks. Ricks was a great ambassador for us in terms of Detroit hoops.

When other Detroit players from EMU and CMU were going home bad mouthing their coach and school, Dre was selling WMU.

Thank you Dip for posting this. Many of us fans know that the deal is usually closed by the head coach. It takes the assistants input and contacts to bring the final sales to the counter but it is the man in charge that has to be able to put the icing on the cake. I trust Hawkins to do what is right for his program and more importantly for the Western Michigan University community. He is honest beyond belief with all recruits. What Dip has posted fits the profile of an effective coach in this fans opinion.
