ACC Network - Hallcity - 05-15-2019 02:31 PM

They're announced the first three weeks of games on the ACC Network. I don't like the idea of 11 am games.
http://theacc.com/news/2019/5/15/first-three-weeks-of-football-on-acc-network-released.aspx

Week 1
Thu, Aug. 29 8 p.m. Georgia Tech at Clemson ACCN

Fri, Aug. 30 8 p.m. Utah State at Wake Forest ACCN

Sat, Aug. 31 Noon East Carolina at NC State ACCN
4 p.m. Virginia Tech at Boston College ACCN
7:30 p.m. Virginia at Pitt ACCN

Week 2
Fri, Sept. 6 8 p.m. William & Mary at Virginia ACCN

Sat, Sept. 7 11 a.m. Ohio at Pitt ACCN
2 p.m. South Florida at Georgia Tech ACCN
5 p.m. Louisiana-Monroe at Florida State ACCN
8 p.m. Miami at North Carolina ACCN

Week 3
Fri, Sept. 13 7:30 p.m. Kansas at Boston College ACCN

Sat, Sept. 14 Noon Furman at Virginia Tech ACCN
4 p.m. Bethune-Cookman at Miami ACCN
7:30 p.m. Florida State at Virginia ACCN

I thought the ACC network would be a catchall for all the games no one else wanted yet Duke's game with NC A&T on 9/7 isn't on this list. Who televises that one? Does this mean the ACC Network will only be able to have one cable feed? If so, there's going to be a lot of basketball games in November and December that won't be available for easy viewing.

RE: ACC Network - Hokie Mark - 05-15-2019 02:34 PM

Beat me by seconds!!!

ACCN will air 14 live football games over the first three weeks showcasing 11 conference teams, 10 home openers and five conference matchups. All three weeks will feature at least four games on ACCN, with Weeks 1 and 2 carrying five games. Highlighting Week 2 is a four-game slate that features Miami at North Carolina in a Coastal Division clash in primetime at 8 p.m. ET.

Date Time (ET) Game Network
Week 1

7:30 p.m. Virginia at Pitt ACCN

Oh sweet Jobu I hope Collins turns loose all the juice against USF.

11 AM starts are common here in the Central Time Zone.

I'm biased, but I love Eric Wood .... he's a kid from Cincy, 2 star recruit, redshirted, then started 49 straight games at center for the Cards. He was drafted in the first round, was a stalwart for the Buffalo Bills over 9 or so seasons, before a health risk forced him into retirement.

I know he recently signed on to be a columnist for the Athletic, and this would seem to fit well too.

As an NFL center, there's no doubt he will be able to bring solid football chops to his analysis.

RE: ACC Network - Hokie Mark - 05-16-2019 05:49 AM

I think Kelsey Riggs is the first hire who isn't an ACC alum. She's been working at WCNC in Charlotte, but she says she's moving to Bristol to work at the office there. I guess they couldn't find any ACC alumni who were willing to move to Bristol...?

FSU the biggest TV audience. No rep.

Miami has 5 national titles in football. No rep.

Surprised? No.

Besides Danny Kanell, which FSU alumni do you think the ACCN should be looking at?

Doesn't matter, but if your biggest TV draw has no representation......just seems like a questionable business move.

Well, you have to have at least one viable candidate...

You named one yourself.

Lack of viable candidates is NOT the issue. That's weak. How many horrible SEC talking heads did ESPN hire for the SEC network?

Bad business.

RE: ACC Network - Indytarheel - 05-16-2019 10:43 AM

Understand your point but not really tuning in for the talking heads. Case in point, if Bilas is not a part of a UNC bball game, that will not stop me from watching the game. Now for panel shows, it may be an issue but if I want the information, I will get over it and wish that they get better analyst. But I understand your point.

The first show hasn't even aired yet, and I'm sure they aren't finished hiring. Your fanbase will be well represented when it's all said and done.03-yawn

so maybe a tad premature on the whole "bad business" line.

Miami has done jack squat since joining the ACC. Why should they get a rep again?

Where's Pitt's rep? Their history is as impressive as Miami's.

Looking for reasons to pick nits.

RE: ACC Network - TexanMark - 05-16-2019 06:12 PM

Cuse hands down has the best broadcast journalism program in the ACC and the USA. Yet, they continue to hire tobacco road insiders

They will be producing + broadcasting every home game and match among every sport they field. All the student run broadcasts have pregame, halftime and post game analysis. No one comes close to that.

RE: ACC Network - Shannon Panther - 05-16-2019 11:06 PM

Mark May would be a good hire for the ACC Network.

RE: ACC Network - NJ2MDTerp - 05-16-2019 11:14 PM

Roy Firestone is a Miami grad.

RE: ACC Network - georgia_tech_swagger - 05-16-2019 11:36 PM

I'm pleasantly surprised at the number of Georgia Tech hires. Wes Durham was mandatory IMO. But Roddy Jones I think everybody will find is quite well spoken, intelligent, and sneaky at getting good info you want on the sidelines. And he's good to spitball with on air if it is a blowout. They added Chris Cotter, notable for this gem live on SportsCenter:

I'm surprised MayDay hasn't made his way over, but he seems to be in Fuhrer Mickey's doghouse since his demise from College Football Final. As soon as Palmer slid in MayDay went down down down at ESPN. I'm largely ignorant on oBE media personalities. I think FSU is only not represented because Kannell already has his own show with his name in it and most of the rest of the FSU people I know are Bowden era former players which aren't the smoothest on air talkers in the world.
