No sorry. That simply isn't the case when what I said was on Page 3, with 13 pages since that post and only three posts by me. Now four.

You control what you post. You can, at any time, change the subject by posting about that subject. Really not sure how that's not understood.

It only takes one post to derail a thread. Congratulations.

The first 3 pages (until your missive) were civil, informative, an overall good discussion. Your post was either another shot across the bow or troll bait. It doesn't matter, you got the result you wanted. Again, congrats.

Like I said it could have been avoided! bet every coach in the conference works on defending the triple option next year.

You continue to mistake our demands last year for the rules be followed and not ignored as crying.

This year, USA should not be jumping over TXST or stAte. stAte should not be jumping over TXST. The pecking order should be ULL, TXST, A-State.

If you were still here all you would be advocating is that WKU wants what it wants regardless of any rules.

And you'd have 300 power point slides and an excel spreadsheet to make your case with. And nobody would care.

That FCS win against Arkansas Pine Bluff sure does elevate TXST in your mind, huh? USA, TXST, and ASU all have 6 FBS wins. USA did it against the tougher schedule. The only difference is that USA didn't play an FCS game whereas TXST and ASU did. Here are a few nuggets for you, so if a bowl decides to go a different direction than what you feel you might understand why:

Strength of Schedule:
USA - 103
ASU - 117
TXST - 136

Average FBS Opponent Rank:
USA - 85.1
ASU - 87.4
TXST - 96.5

Average Opponent Rank (counting FCS teams in rankings):
USA - 114.5
ASU - 124.4
TXST - 158.8

Number of Games against 6-6 or better FBS teams:
USA - 8
ASU - 7
TXST - 6

Best Win:
ASU - 43
TXST - 79
USA - 94

Worst Loss:
USA - 79
TXST - 96
ASU - 97

Average Scores Among Common opponents (ASU and USA):
USA 29-19 (+10)
ASU 39-35 (+4)

Average Scores Among Common opponents (USA and TXST):
USA 27-23 (+4)
TXST 32-31 (+1)

Average Scores Among Common opponents (ASU and TXST):
ASU 46-25 (+21)
TXST 30-28 (+2)

Average Scores Among Common opponents (All Three):
ASU 45-31 (+14)
USA 24-19 (+5)
TXST 33-32 (+1)

If the bowls pass on USA then I'll be bummed but I can understand why. We didn't do enough to make one. But to unequivocally say that TXST deserves a bowl more than USA isn't really fair, considering we have identical league records and other metrics can be used to make an argument for USA.

Skully, if a 6-6 Cajun squad got a bowl bid over a 7-5 Jaguar squad, I'd be po'd. Honestly.

Maybe Georgia Southern should be the only member in its own conference.

They could call it, the Look At Me Conference.

Actually, that sounds like something that would excite the Georgia Southern circle-jerk.

Don't give them any ideas.

Wait... Why shouldn't USA be ahead of us (since they beat us head to head)?

It gets so confusing with three teams tied with conference records, and each beat the other.

I still say it's The Cajuns, then a mish mash of the remaining three bowl eligible teams. I wish it was cut and dry by us beating USA, but it didn't happen.

Pretty sure that is not an NCAA rule .... Perry Mason.

But I'm sure you would love to litigate, and live up to the Eagle reputation so far .... maybe sue all the Bowls associated with the Belt and endear yourselves to them just like you have the rest of the conference ... lame.

The histrionics in this thread are priceless, on both sides of the issue.

Our AD clearly stated in a mid-game interview on ESPN3 during last night's game that he expected a final ruling on our appeal by Monday, Tuesday at the latest. It was patently clear by his comments that will be the end of it.

If the NCAA gives us the go-ahead, it won't be via lawsuits. I'm hoping this is just hyperbole on your part.

Bunch of panties getting wadded on this messageboard due to about a dozen or so Georgia Southern posters. You guys need to get to know the other 19,988 of us.

This raises an interesting question (well, interesting to me, at least): Why did USA pass up the FCS game?

Or better yet, should the Sun Belt make a rule about scheduling... Everyone has at least one FCS game (or no FCS game) to make things more equitable? Dunno about that, unless it was to remove the FCS game... But I don't think our conference as a whole has reached the level that we can give up that almost assured W.

UL wanted out of the this conference once our former decent conference mates like WKU and MTSU left. Those are real programs that we have real history with.

UL could have gone undefeated and Ga Southern lost every game, or vice versa. It's not the standings that really matter, it's the current perception, reality, leadership and direction of the conference that has had the Cajuns wanting out for the last 3 years.

Just because Ga Southern won one SBC football championship does not make them any type of powerhouse. That success can be fleeting in FBS, I think they will find out it is not as easy as the FCS long term.

Either way - trust me the Cajuns and the Cajun administration are scrambling to get out.

If you did then you'd have to put stAte over a USA team they blew out.

You already know what happened between TXST and stAte.

You are 7-5 and they are 6-6. You also beat A-State who is 7-5 so have that over us. IMO you trump both USA and stAte.

This is very reason why FBS teams will schedule FCS teams. It's not TXST or stAte's fault that USA didn't have foresight to do so.

Absolutely no insult intended...
If I were a Jag fan, I'd be demanding better scheduling from my AD. It's not like USA had a playoff invite at stake here and needed to pad their SOS.

Better schedule? Our fans would kill to get home games with Navy and Miss St in the same year. Just cause it's not as easy, doesn't mean it's not a great schedule. Ask Baylor fans how they feel about their AD scheduling cupcakes all the time.

I still hope all four schools can go bowling. Hope the SBC bids go out soon so we can start moving forward.

RE: Bowl Info: Process delayed, Picture "Muddy" per AState AD - NCeagle - 12-01-2014 10:18 AM

why are you guys talking record in regards to bowl invite? It has much more to do with location and which team will bring more potential money. I don't think they will look at a 1 game difference in record. ULL is a perfect example.

It is silly not to schedule an FCS. In fairness, Montana State is probably as good or better than Kent State. Our non-conference record includes the best non-conference win for the league this year, road games against ACC and SEC bowl teams and a win over an elite FCS program.

yeah, and as I've argued a thousand times before on our forums, it's foolishness... it's just another form of our "longhorn bobcat" mentality rearing it's ugly head. We want fans in the stands to watch us... not our opponents.

beefing our schedule up now just inflates attendance numbers temporarily and causes more damage to fan interest in the program than it creates.

we aren't going to generate program hype by getting our teeth kicked in by texas tech every year. Blowout losses just reinforce long held stereo-types held by Texas outsiders and our own insufferable old-timer "boosters".

We aren't Baylor. Not even close. If we were anything resembling Baylor, then yeah... cupcakes would be annoying.
We are a mediocre g5 team at best and we need to pad our record with W's, not L's to get bowl invites year-in and year-out. We need to establish a winning tradition MORE than we need interesting competition... (for now)

If we go bowling every year, we will improve our prestige, casual alum support, and recruit interest far more than we would with multiple 30+ point losses to big 12 schools every year. (see Marshall)

when we are good enough to run through the belt 8-0 or 7-1, then fine yeah... schedule a couple lower/mid level p5's a year.

Then and only then - after we are more competitive... throw in a ranked opponent.

RE: Bowl Info: Process delayed, Picture "Muddy" per AState AD - Tiguar - 12-01-2014 10:44 AM

Arguing about records is pointless. 6-6 or 7-5 with an fcs win, both meaningless to a bowl rep, unless the 6-6 is a close loss against a ranked national opponent. Its all about the $

Not talking about the reality of dollars and politics. Talking about what the pecking order "should be".

It makes a difference. Many people do not even think 6-6 P5 schools should be bowling. Likewise USA should not jump a 7-5.

We all know that this is not how it always works.
